Darrin: I guessing the weave help increase strength vs say unilateral fabric? And that increase in strength means you can use less of the material...making it lighter? Please...elaberate.

Mo...I was just looking at what Ive been working with and it looks to be 1/32 of an inch. Thats right in between .5mm and 1.mm. I think .5mm would be fine.

I gotta agree with Mark...even the most minimalist of rod builders will coat it with something. Any kind of fishing rod with a CP only guide is destined for eventual repair.

The protection from added UV absorber unfortunately is not permanent. Best I can tell it works for a few months to a year.

If it were me...I would be sure to install a real exhaust fan. Not one for the stove or the bathroom. I'm talking 1000+ CFM. Even if you cant get to an exterior wall...have it just vent to the rest of the basement. You will not regret this...especially when you start "expanding" the craft.

Mark...thats a great test. In God we trust...all other bring data. I would love to see what the results would be if you had just done a spiral or "Roberts" wrap with the guides ending on top.

Kendall Does the powder pigment actually dissolve into the epoxy...say like Testers or Tap pigments would? Or does is just add the colored powder...much like just adding glitter would do? I have seen the powders on MudHole and have wondered how it works. I do have a pearl powder that I use on lures (mixed with epoxy) and it seems to work the same way you describe: it only takes just a ti

I think were talking about two different telescoping rods.... The one I was referring to just collapses into the handle...a little less than two feet....and will basically have a rod about 5 foot (colasped) total...extending to 6'+. (Now I realize) that your talking about a rod it all collapses...ie Eagle Claw PK56TS

Mark: I dont think your going to find an UL tele. All the telescopic rods Iv'e ever seen (and Im sure I have seen them all) were basically 7 and 8 foot rods that were just two pieces. One piece would telescope into the other about two feet. This was really meant to accommodate shorter rod lockers on boats. As for a pack rod (travel rod) I would think you would be better off with a 3 or 4 p

You could check the spine on each 1/3 of the rod and see if any of those positions just happens to fall on the straight axis. What could be the consequences of fishing, if I would use it that way (crooked)? None...there is no consequences for fishing.

This is how I did it when I started building rods...and did it like this for a long time. I would turn the rod 180 degrees: Every 5 min. for the first 30 min. Every 10 min for the next 30 min. Every 15 min for the next hour. I will admit to having the occasional rod bumps.
