271. Re: line stretch
David, Tom,
One variable that can't be overlooked is the fisherman. Not everyone is going to feel the same.
Having that "feel" is a skill and some part of that may actually be genetics.

Aleks,
I sent you an email about an issue and didnt get a reply...that email may have landed in junk.
Here is the general jist:
One little quirk that I cant seem to figure out has to do with the pictures.
Facts:
I can view the pictures but only when I log out!
I can view pictures(logged in) but not the ones posted via phone app.
The site has always been able to show pictures...you just

Phil...what was that source?
Some numbers I've seen are 2% stretch at 50' and 2.5% stretch at 100'. #1
I think some of the larger numbers arn't using the drag...but locking down the reel.
The big take away is how the t

279. Re: CP or no?
I have a love hate relationship with CP.
I agree that it does make a wrap stronger...but for me this is just a side-effect.
I like to use CP when I have a lot of thread art working. Specifically different colors in a weave or a cross wrap.
If you didn't use CP (unless you know for sure) you risk the colors going dark and possibly even matching.
I will not use CP when I have a rods that is

Why are you so sad about this?
I think Aleks is trying to appeal to all...especially the older generation. Since most rod builders are older.

The problem with this existing format (bringing old threads back to the top) is that someone with a hidden agenda can bring the thread back.
Maybe they like to see their name in lights...or want their insight and advice front and center.
In some cases, this works...but on RBO the discussion quickly gets off top and banal.
I have rarely seen a post get deleted or a warning to stay on topic.

I want to say I glued a cork plug in the bottom.
I also had a concern about protecting the top part of the blank while it was in the retracted position.
(when its retracted...they will rub together in the rod lockeer)
I had seen rods scratched up in that spot.
So I added a decal and two coats of epoxy where they would overlap...again this is while its retracted.
The picture is not fully

I always thought it was good luck to have a dragon fly land on your rod while fishing.
Though the extra weight was bound to diminish the sensitivity, the added luck was always welcome.

Thanks Mick...FWIW....I have read and reread that article many times.
Originally I thought the 1/3 of the blank measurement was to stop when 1/3 of the blank bends...
and was kind of scratching my head on that some...
I will get back with ya on this ...

Thank Tom...but I pooched the question
I will try again...
If I have a rod that 7 feet long (84 inches)...(1/3 of that is 28 inches)
I lay it horizontal and start adding pennies into a bag (placed on the tip) until the tip drops 28 inches (below horizontal)?
Is this the correct procedure...the tip drops 28 inches past horizontal?

Up until recently...I never gave much thought to Common Cents.
This was because I never really had a need to cross reference different blanks.
So Im taking another hard look at it and embracing the work.
From the article:
"Its power is determined from the number of one cent pieces added to the bag in order to deflect the tip downward a distance equal to one
third of the rod’s length

I think Dr. Hanneman is implying that DBI is ERN divided by AA....thus the "ERN/AA".
ERN-AA could be construed as ERN minus AA.

I had never considered this...
What would be a good consideration for the winter vs the summer?
