I think my comments were taken as being targeted to what is being explained in this thread and that's not how I meant them to be taken , I should of made it clear that I was speaking in generalities, my comments had nothing to do with Norms way of explaining things although I can see how it could easily be taken as such . Sorry for any confusion. Carry on as they say.

Man , when people explain how to do things by writing it out I always get completely lost and that's just me I'm sure others have no trouble following along . I have also found that using CP helps a great deal as Tom mentioned when dealing with trim wraps.

I never took any part of this thread serious for obvious reasons . Phil , one of those comments is yours and it's also obviously a joke . "The best method is to magnetize a needle and balance it on the rod tip. This magnetized needle will interact with the carbon and point to the blanks inherent "True North" thus aligning the rod in perfect balance with nature" &qu

Mark and Todd C'MON LOL . You guys actually thought my post above was serious that is hysterical . This entire thread is based on sarcasm . It's all for laughs nothing more . Everybody knows Phil E is always the one that is wanting factual data and this thread is the opposite with Phil E having all that data but refusing to share it with everybody else .

Building with the best components money can buy is much of the time just a process of satisfying ones mind , they know that being able to tell a difference between SIC , Torzite etc.. or a few grains of weight difference between frame materials or ceramic ring materials is going to be slim to none but choosing those components offers a serenity of the mind that they find worth it and I understand

"Less than a foot of average distance". But there is a difference and that's what's important . I personally would go to the ends of the earth to be able to pick up an extra 2 millimeter's of distance let alone 2 to 3 inches because that's absolutely huge and the difference between catching that once in a lifetime fish and going home with no fish at all . Remember truly monst

Agree 100% with Tom and said the same in my post on page 1 . All your concerns and questions will be answered after you attach the reel seat temporarily to the rod and attach a reel and tape on some guides and test cast . It's the best way to know you got it right . There is no more accurate way of figuring it out wherever your hands naturally gravitate to while casting will be the spot that is

I remember when Fuji posted the below information and while I agree with most of it especially rod power and smaller rings perform better than larger rings ( With braid) I disagree on some as well particularly increased casting distance. Additional guides INCREASE casting distance. Guide rings are far more slippery than rod blanks. The real culprit in robbing distance is line slapping th

Before applying epoxy I flip the rod over and secure it to my build table with reel attached and spool removed . I then tie 10 pound braid to the end of the spools axle and thread it through the center of the choke guide keeping it taught . Once it's secured to the center of the choke I continue down the rod and secure it to the center of the tip top . Again the line must be kept taught . That's

I don't think I have ever attempted to cast a fishing rod with one hand , at least I can't think of any time I did even as a youngster . While inshore rods don't have the much longer butt of surf rods I still still always use two hands to cast them . I don't get the ultimate leverage with a shorter rear grip but even with that being the case I know it's tens times more efficient then attempting

Of course you aren't wrong , if you want quality then that's who you need to do business with . I would require him to put it in writing before I built it because he's going to be infuriated when he attempts to cast that monstrosity. You could also tell him that you retired last week & send him on his way , that's probably what I would do .

Fuji started the 'Belly guide' talk when the KB's were introduced if I remember correctly and while their explanation sounds reasonable I have a whole bunch of builds that work flawlessly without having implemented any KB's . It used to be transition guides and running guides which seemed to work just fine. I have no problem with the KB guides I appreciate the more robust and substantial foo

I'm not a fly fisherman but I do have experience with all single foot layouts on a few select ten and a half foot surf rods I built and use. Although I do typically go with double foot guides in different heights and sizes for the reduction train on my heavier rated surf rods I do use all single foot's starting with the a KL25H and ending with size KT 5 runners on a select few and I find those

If I'm purchasing a blank and both are rated the same I'm now going with the casting version and plan on building it spinning . I don't follow CCS stuff much but I would assume both versions while rated the same will show different numbers.

Every time I run into a discussion on "What's your favorite rod" on various different general angling forums I always see the NRX inshore rods as being the ultimate and it's by a very large margin. I would expect incredible performance for inshore rods that sell northward of $600.00 . The ' Conquest' is also spoken very highly of . The below comment courtesy of Gary Loomis:

If memory serves me correctly the NRX rod's are contributed to Steve Rajeff's design prowess using Shimano tech so I don't think you will find an NFC blank that's a close match . I would think the X ray blanks would be the series that performed on that high level but Peter says the model he used was not a close match so I don't know .

I thought I understood what Gabriele was asking about but after his responses I still can't figure what he's having trouble with . Is it wrapping that extended piece or is the tube too large and he needs to find a way too build up the tip so the guide tube can fit better ? I'm against building up the tip I would much prefer to order the correct tip top size but I know others have built that pa

The leg braces are attached to the upper ring frame not at the very bottom . After removing that small extended piece the guide is still super super strong , is it the recommended thing to do ? No, but it's not absolutely necessary either and can be removed with no ill effects for people who feel the need to do so. The more downward pressure the tip top receives the more that unattached piece p
