The last one I did was drastic. I was mating a very small diameter Black Hole blank to a large diameter foregrip and had a lot of space to make up. I glued a rubber winding check against the grip and built my ramp over that. It gave me a great foundation and I feel it gave the ramp it's shape.

I enjoy building from those kits and then wrapping between the grips and adding a custom decal with the boat or owners name on it. Not a lot of work and people love having a gaff that matches their big game set of rods.

I may suggest a butane torch to replace the alcohol burner....I got better results when I switched.

I watched a guy wrap once who cut his tags off short BEFORE he pulled them out through the wrap. The tag end stayed under the wrap......never came up between threads

Hi Euan, There are many more experienced guys on here than I but maybe I can help a little. Crossover spacing should be apx the same as the diameter of the rod where the wrap will be....1 inch diameter....1 inch spacing. Larger spacing gives you an elongated wrap....shorter spacing a compressed wrap. Don't try to put too much tension on each pass....packing will fix up the pattern for yo
