Somebody from another forum harvested a picture I posted here in 2016 of a gaff that I customized and posted it as their own work. I am kind of flattered as I am strictly an amateur but.....why would you do that?

I have had great success with Seeker's E glass tuna blanks. I have built about 2 dozen and some of them have been abused and I have had no failures and guys like the action.

Why not? If it is only for a trim band, tensile strength doesn't matter. I would test it though....see how it reacts to epoxy.

Justin......if you GOOGLE search you will be able to find step by step cross wrap patterns that are very easy for the beginner to follow......3 black threads.....now 6 red threads...etc. I too found the available books assumed more knowledge than I possessed at the time. I thought I found them here a while back but I can't find them now. Try various keywords......custom fishing rod decorative wr

I will always use CP on white threads.....you may also use a paint pen or something similar to color a black or dark color blank in areas that you will be using white thread.

David......I have used a lot of Pro Wrap metallics....I build a lot of Blue/Black/Silver color schemes and have had no problems. I do know however, that the majority of the rods I build are stored indoors when they are not being fished. This will minimize UV exposure.

I have had Gudebrod blues fade badly but that has not been the case with Pro-Wrap metallics ......so far.

I have nothing to offer regarding the warp but I have had great success restoring the finish on some Honey Lamiglas blanks from the early '70s with a very light (400 grit) sanding and permagloss.

Tony.......if you put a white nylon thread on a black blank chances are that the blank will show through when the epoxy finish hits the thread....even for many NCP nylons.....this is true for light colors in general... Also....just like when polyurethane hits a piece of wood it's color changes, the same thing happens with thread. Sometimes this is a good thing sometimes not. Rule of thumb is if y

I would absolutely use a roller top......I have built similar rods (just a bit longer) with a roller top and a roller stripper and HD boat running guides but with a 4ft blank 60-130 why not all rollers?

Hello All, I am about to start work on a 80-130 bent butt rod. The intended use is for drifting large live bait for Bluefin Tuna.....large/mediums....under 72 inches from a small, 24ft, boat. Rod will be bent butt and fish will be fought in a swivel rod holder....not on stand up gear. The blank I am using a Seeker CTSF63XXXH....an Aftco #4 bent butt (storabutt) paired with a Penn 80VISW....my

I fill a pot with hot water from the tap and sit both bottles, resin and hardener, in the water for 10 minutes or so before each use. The resin often has the solids settle on the bottom and this often needs more attention to get it back to it's original state......I will roll the bottle and heat it again......repeat steps 1 and 2 as many times as necessary.

Hmmmm....veeerrrry interesting. I have fished a lot of bucktails.....even shot my own deer and made jigs from the tails. Maybe find a very small jig head......split it in half somehow on the centerline ...applysome hair...and then work out something like Michael describes. Perhaps in the space in a split grip handle? I would love to see some pics if you get it done. Good Luck
