Okay, I already have the micro bands from Mudhole, I didnt think they would hold well enough for the static testing, I just need to remove my tip top and place them on the blank. I will add a couple like mentioned above just in case. Thank all of you again. Hope yall dont get tired of me asking questions, I just have always wanted everything I do to be as perfect as possible and not have to do it

I think I found my answer in the Static Load Tutorial, if I follow their math it looks like about 6" apart to start with except for the one closest to the tip, that one is 4", this website has great info especially for a complete rookie such as myself. I am only 2 rods in but have learned a great deal here already. Thank all of you.

Thanks Roger that is exactly what I just did on the rod I am building right Now ( my second Rod build ) and it feels really good. I am hoping this turns out to be the best rod I have ever fished with, have some really nice components, at least I think I do. With you and Normans guidance on guides it should be a keeper, really happy with how the split grip and reel seat turned out

Does it hurt to wrap over the tape that is holding the guide in place on the small micro guides, I dont have much room to tape and then start the wrap, tried glue stick but that did not work out that well.Thank you.

Norman, I have 30 3/8 from my tip top to the choke guide, is there any way to calculate where to start placing the rest of the runners, nothing else should go in the reduction train correct. I have the 16H,8H,5.5M, and the 4.5 choke guide layed out per the KR GPS which was 19" 8.16" 6.04" 7.22" total reduction train length of 21.42. Just dont know how to start laying out th

Apparently I am either stupid or physically challenged, I cant for the life of me make a rod do anything when i am trying to spine it. I have watched the mudhole video repeatedly, bought the crb spine finder and I cant make putting it on a flat surface and bending it towards the ceiling or using the spine finder and bending it towards the ground work. I have tried rolling it, pinching it and cuss

Roger, that's kinda what I did, no fore grip small 2 inch rear grip and 2 inch butt grip, came out to 11 7/8 to center of reel seat, used aluminum winding checks at front of reel seat, behind rear grip and front of butt grip.Fuji TVS reel seat with Kevlar insert. I am going to start gluing the handle up tonight, glued the Kevlar insert in the reel seat last night.

So Roger, My blank is 7'2" , the system you described above would that be rapid reduction or new guide concept, also I thought the butt guide had to be 1/2 the diameter of the spool, in this case a Diawa Tatula 3000, man I have a lot to learn.

I just read the article from the library, is this the best way to lay out the guides for a rapid reduction system on a spinning rod, freshwater shaky head or drop shot rod. I want to learn the best practices for my rod building. Thank you.and forgive me if this question has been beat to death, I am brand new at this with only one rod under my belt and I just used the spacing guide from Fuji and t

Thank all of you for the replies and info, I will definitely put it to good use, thank you Steve that makes perfect sense and I am going to do exactly as you recommend. John, believe me she already knows, we always discuss any purchases over $250 but she is a great wife and does not say anything about any of my hobbies nor do I about hers as long as all the bills are paid, seems to work for us. So , I am new to rodbuilding. Built my first one last week, a 7" spinning rod, medium/ fast for drop shot and shaky heads, gave it to my best friend. Turned out really good especially for my first time. So now I am building myself a 7'2" rod for the same thing. Got a MHX Elite blank, fuji reel seat and guides. So I was fitting everything up for the handle and thought. If I put the real
