I am planning a build for a light Walleye jigging rod. Spinning. Vertical jigging in Canadian lakes with no current 6' to 25'. Jig size range 1/8 - 3/8 oz. I am planning on using a St Croix SCV 5S63MLXF or 5S63MXF. This rod will be used for 99% vertical jigging virtually no casting. I need help picking out the guide types. Is there any reason to use something like NGC or KR concept syste

Does RodGeeks offer the St Croix blanks unfinished, or only in the St Croix stock colors (or painted by RodGeeks).

Any special things to be concerned about in getting a St Croix blank painted? Does it add an appreciable amount of weight to a rod that is being designed to be light weight? Any other concerns?

Assuming you have a blank that is uncoated, what product would you use to coat it? And would you coat the whole blank? Would this just be for aesthetics?

I am researching my first build. Glad I found this site! i am looking for detailed information on what criteria to consider in choosing blank length. I don't have a specific rod or use in mind yet. I am just looking for the general info to be considered for all rods. As you all know there are a gazillion blanks out there. For example, if I am looking to build a spinning rod for walleye jig

I am not familiar with spiral wraps. What are they and when/why do you use them?
