I am building a rod on an NFC LMX hybrid 705-1 7'0" Moderate action , MH power. The rod will be used for trolling bottom bouncers for walleyes. The rod will be held in my hand, not placed in a rod holder. The rod will be held horizontal to tip slightly down when trolling. So I am trying to choose a reel to match the rod. One word of caution on the drywall tape. If the epoxy has not set when you slide your reel seat over it, there is a possibility the whole coiled stack may be pulled with the reel seat. The result could be a real seat that sets up not concentric to the blank. Don't ask me how I know... Mike, the folks at NFC told me that the only difference between the "1" and the "3" models is cosmetic. The "1" has a smaller x-pattern, which is sort of visible on the website photos if you look close enough. I have the "1's" and I like them, but I need to find out what reel seats (size) they fit.
