Ok, so i have a understanding.. Sorta.. The first question is about the process setup.. I understand the ccs is primarly based on fly rods, which explains why you would place your rod in the holder with the guides facing up.. In fly fishing you load your line primarily on the back cast.. Over your head.. And behind you.. The system can be used for spin fishing rods too, but i primarily cast f

Ok, i do have another question.. The ccs states placing the bend 1/3 into the rod blank.. Well, deflecting the blank into the top 1/3.. So how does the blank end up having quite a bend all the way to the foregrip? Making sure i did this correctly, and i think i did.. I read it enough times... Total length, divided by 3.. Deflect the rod, while it is leveled in front of the foregrip the distance o

It definatly does.. Helps me understand the ccs better.. I love all of your guys info, suggestions, tips, etc. I really dont quite get the IP to power conversion..( relax tom :) i know it IS the power) but when trying to make a rod for someone, and they give you a rod, and say they want it like this.. I can do a ccs test on it, but then what? The ccs has suggestive actions based on AA but nothing

I think it would be better described as a tool.. Norm beat me to it.. I was going to say exactly what he said above.. As rod builders yes, its a great tool.. But to the common fisherman, they will have no idea what ypur talking about.. And yes tom, your right.. Builders screw up acrion definition... Heck i did... I cant think of a good example other then repeating norm.. It took me about a week

Ah.. See, tom is refering to the reel feel... I hate humidity lol always makes it feel hotter... (Point im making is you have to take multiple factors into an equation.. One part of a problem isnt a solution) Just thought id add some humor.. Dont mind me.. Im hating work for the next few hours..

That really means alot to me... Thanks.. Im pretty sure You did mention that blank before.. Now all i need is cash... It seems im gonna have to wait aboit a month before the next build.. I love the science behind how things in fishing work.. I spend more time figuring, learning, and messing around with everything fishing i end up not acually fishing lol

That is true, i have a ultralight tica (the tip top shattered, i dont know how.. Broke my heart.. Put a new tip top on, had to remove 2" rod is ruined.. Doesnt cast or feel right what so ever anymore) lone rating is 2-6lb.. I was on a lake and hooked into the biggest largemouth of my life.. It came to 4.3 pounds.. For PA, thats a really big bass... I was afraid my rod was going to snap, bein

If your talking about the stuff woodworkers use to add a glow to the epoxy... Thats acually a really good idea... If your not talking about the same stuff.. Just type "glow epoxy table" in google.. I might just try that.. The pro thread glows for a really long time.. But as with most uv reactive things, the glow is fairly dull after the first few minutes...

Im sure it has.. And to be honest i completly knew that was put in the article for a reference point.. And im glad you did put it in the article.. A reader needs a start point to understand how things translate.. Like with the ERN... Since most manufacturers dont use the CCS and dont give a ERN number i have no idea where to begin selecting a power rating that coinsides with 14.55... The only

I understand that.. But it does say right in the ccs.. Action Angle degree below 59. slow 59-63. moderate 63-66. moderate/fast Above 66. Fast And based on the cents used, grain weight converted into maximum lure weight, and minimum lure weight into oz. That places the monofiliment lb test rating of 6-10lb.. And 6-10lb test is best utilized on a

Ok guys, so i did my test.. The rig was about 1/8 inch off the floor.. So i have to find a better spot apparently.. I deflected the rod with the Guides up.. The jig i made has the fulcrum at 6 3/4" from the butt.. the rod was as level as i could get it with a 10" torpedo level, leveled the rod directly in front of the foregrip... I ran out of pennies so ended up having to use a bunch

I acually having trouble finding a place to put the rod.. Why do they always have to be so long lol.. I have shelves, but no way to support it.. My desks are too short, and my wife would kill me if i used the coutertop lol.. Im probably going to make a rig up out of wood, possibly later today or Tommorrow sometime.. Ive seen them robert, but i dont have the wallspace.... Trust me, id love one

I thought it standardized to 2.5 grams after 1996, thats why its taking me over a week to gather enough to do this lol.. Its amazing when you grab a handfull how many are from before 96'

A nickle is 5 grams as well, so for bulking up i guess it couldnt hurt to rough your way up, then use pennies to fine tune...

David, i love when i get one of those.. "Oh yeah..." Moments.. Using a piece of spinner R wire would be easier, straighter, and lighter then what i have planned.. And i have a whole lot of it to.. Lol as for using sinkers, i want to get a weight setup set, so i dont end up "dipping in" one day for a fishing outing one day.. Im a machinist, and i make gears that can take upward

So ive finally found close to the right amount of pennies.. Going to need more im sure, but im close.. I opted to use pennies mainly becouse i need to get out to the tackle shop, otherwise i would have use the suggestion in a previous post about using sinkers.. I figured it cant hurt to ask how you guys and gals go about setting up and executing the CCS.. I dont have a shelf deep, or wide eno

Thats acually a really cool idea.. Didnt know they made translucent blanks.. I may have to try and get my hand on one of those... As for the bobber and stren line.. I only use spiderwire, and my brother only uses trilene.. And i never use bobbers.. Unless im on a lake.. Ive seen weaves the entire length of the blank on the internet, never in person.. Wonder how a rod would be effected by that

That is a good point.. I wonder how much that would throw you off.. I have a rod i wrapped with an electric blue and silver wrap at each eye.. Its amazing at night.. But with glo in the dark, might mess you up.. The blue and silver are great, to keep bugs at bay i use a blood tracker light.. Makes the guides pop wonderfully

I want to build a white rod with glo thread for night fishing.. Since she doesn't really pay attention.. Lol I hear what your saying.. But they do suggest not using metallics for your base color as its not as strong.. (I guess) just wondering about Pro Products Glo thread..

Ok, so i understand the cc system to a degree.. Ill need some help once i get the numbers together.. Ill make a New post about that once i get the info i need.. For right now it seems im on a mission to gather pennies.. Lol most of the ones i have are from the 70s and 80s apparently.. Im assuming im going to need a fair amount to place the proper bend on the fenwick.. Thanks again everyone.. You

Quick question.. Can Pro Wrap Glow in the dark thread be used in size A for guide wraps? Or is it more like metallics that is should only be used for accent?

Thats a verry good point.. And ill Definatly heed your warning on guide placement... Thought this was kinda funny.. When i was testing the rod, rather doing the experiment... There i was, big long rod with a little reel, jeans on, full setup, looking like i was ready for a week long excursion.. (My brother and i are always ready for anything) and here comes a guy, shorts, just his licence, ic
