I suggest you add storage companies, house builders, divorce attorneys, and loan specialists to the list, to help with the growth of each the rod builders home, inventory and workspace.

I have yet to try anything from Batson, though I do pause over it every time. The deciding factor is usually familiarity and experience and having none with Batson at this time. I have gone as far as to list guides, seats and blanks that I think fit the profile for a few rods I want to build someday...but thats it. I'm not a business/builder, just a hobby bu frienilder for freinds and family and

This is pretty neat. I've also used pc-stitch, and its pretty neat as well and probably one of the most preferred by most builders. I also found a free add-in that can be downloaded to excel, that will digitize an image into shaded cells of a worksheet, and its also pretty neat. But by far, the most effective for me has been a combination of old school and new school...manually shading cells in e

I think you can find both graphite and poly arbors just about anywhere. I dont know if these are the same you and Tom are talking about or not. See the above for example. I use the polyurethane arbors exclusively now. I dont think there's been any loss of sensitivity.

Seemed to work. There are 2 rates. SRB1 looks like it gives you a tax break if you stay 2 nights. STD1 apparently does not. The rates summary however lists 'estimated' taxes either way. Also, although you can print and 'email a friend' and yourself with a copy of the reservation, there wasnt an automatic confirmation from Raddisson sent to my email. ....update: Raddisson did send an email confirm

Anyone know the RM# that describes a spiral wrap demo device? I can't seem to find it, and couldnt find it in the library reference file. Thanks in advance.

The ? marks in the article could simply be where trademark symbols were. If the app you were using to 'read' the article cold not read the symbol, its common for them to put the ? i wonder if coating the tip with pg or some other urethan like ''zylon' before attaching a top would also create similar difficulties removing the top..

More heat and you run the risk of damaging the blank. I've several of these peskies I've had to CAREFULLY cut off with a dremel.

hmnnn...a dealer nearby that seems to have more than just salt water supplies. Bob if you see this, I emailed you a question but the message was returned "undeliverable". I was wondering if there is walk-in service at your shop for Rod Building Supplies, or is this online shopping only?

Excellent Joe - I think that would be a great resource, and an appropriate place for it! Here's what I've been using, but there's more that I've read here in pieces and think *we* could add to it.

Is there a good list or article for the fisherman - something that goes into rod care as well as handling both while fishing as well as transporting, etc, etc, etc. I know its been discussed and several people have one of their own, but is there one in RM or on this site or on RBI or someplace else thats nice and comprehensive that I just aint seein'?

Hi Tom - I'm curious to know, if you can tell us, are these component supply companies, or are they builder/company booths, or...? I was also curious to hear how the builder booths did this year for ROI? If I recall correctly you mentioned one that did very well in 2006 (s mickel I think it was). Maybe you already reported on that and I missed it. Thanks in advance.

Do a good fit check before gluing these in place. I had one of 4 that I ordered a few months ago where the flat on the cork insert was not very flush with the flat on the trigger section. I sanded it down flat and checked again before gluing, but imagine that could risk damage to the trigger section if not done before hand.

Why not sand the existing cork grips down and install the new grips over that... like a bushing?

Do I run the risk of making a factory casting rod worse if I just rotate all but the butt guide to the bottom and add in a bumper? The spacing isnt optimum, but its not too far off; and its just "cleaner" to just put guides back where they were.

Good point Billy, I guess, but i'm curious just the same...with the weight of the guide, not your salt spray. I guess I'll eventually find out myself anyway.

Anyone have weights of the new "higher gloss" guides for comparison with those reported on Mike Barkleys site? I dont like higher gloss - hope they didnt create more weight as well.

Ahh, discovery. I only glanced at cabelas but only for seats - didnt occur to me to look for completed handle assy's. I see it now. Thanks Stan. I was hoping for just for the seat as the project calls for a custom grip, but it might be something to work with. I'm getting pretty good at hack-jobs. Raymond I just might take you up on that if this doesnt pan out - but that won't substitute for the c
