Yes Tom was refering to the upsweep.By new incarnation of ngc are you refering to kr concept? Not looking to build a this rod (yet) .After advice to buy a factory rod for a reel with no upsweep.????

Hi All,My work mate is looking to by his first med/big spin reel.He is looking at the Shimano Spheros range which I believe has a parallel foot.How dose this effect rod selection in regards to the guides.He will be either using 30/50 lb braid on a 6'6 to7 ft rod mainly soaking bait.Congrats to everyone here for making this site so usefull,helpfull and freindly.Also leaders up to about 80lb using

Wow guys that's alot of good info.Will need a second coffee for my brain to process.Thank you.Yes I probaly was over thinking things.That 850 combo I mentioned I have used for nearly ten years I think and have never really looked at the rod or thought about where the guides were.It has worked just fine the way it is.Was looking out of curiosity now that I start my rodbuilding journey.Here in Aust

Thanks for the advice gents.Think the price of the k series guides would rule me out Herb..Have not done a full price match as yet but was trying to stick with the Orings.Would guide placement rules change when going to the heavy side of spinning.Had a look at my 15kg 7ft spin rod matched to a 850ssm spinfisher and when i had a look at how a ngc would go on it I just got confused.Spool diameter i

How many rod supports do i need for a rod drier that will be used for applying the finish also.Rods from 5'6" to 7'.3kg to 15kg.building my first drier.also roughly how high is a drier?Cheers Scott

At this stage was going to plug it into a auto jump start pack that has a 12out put socket.And leave the pack on charge while motor is running.ordered motor and pwm speed control yeserday.

Hello to all, Newbie here so have much to learn.Want to build my first rod drier.After reading many pages here I have decided that using a 12v dc gearmotor and speed contoller is the way to go for me.Will make a slip clutch and mount it straight on to the motor.Plan to use the motor at higher speed to apply finish then reduce speed to dry.Think a 100rpm gear motor is the go.Just
