Thank you Gentleman for the replies. It seems like I am on the right track. My main concern was about the guides spacing between the third and the choke being longer then the distance between the second and third guide. Visually to me it looked odd as I have never seen spacing be not progressive. But as Spencer suggests maybe it gives better performance at the Kr gps distances. I really need to g

Thanks Jim and Norm. As a side note I received my first ever order of guides today to fix up a couple light spin rods. The size 5 guides are the smallest guide I have ever seen. Have never seen that small on store rods here in oz. And the Fazlite Kl-H guides are just plain sexy. Can't wait to get wrapping. Tight lines Scott

Hi everyone, If using Fuji L guides as running guides and you want to use a couple of L-T in the high stress area of the belly are you forced to use 4.5size for the running guides because the L-T is only available in 4 or 4.5 size? The KB is available up to size 6 . Is there another way around it.Or is from size 5 up the foot plenty big to cope with the stress in the belly ar

Hi Jim, I only placed my first order for some KR guides last night.I am putting some new guides on a rod that had poor quality guides.I am a complete newbie and this is going to be my first shot at rod building. For me I don't think a guide set would have helped me much or at all. For me I read the pages on the Anglers Rsrc site and some on this site using the search function. It did

Thanks for the input guy's.Actualy have 2 of the same rod and both have guides that are breaking.Never had guides break like it before so they must have used some rubbish on them. One rod will get the kr set up and the other will get a more traditional high frame y guide set up.The proof will be in the pudding I guess. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. The y guides look like they will use a 25 as a

Hi guy's, Have a rod that needs new guides. As a beginner it will be a good learning process for me I hope. Want to use Fuji's Kr concept on it and just want to double check that what I plan to do is right.Have read a lot of info on the subject on the Anglers Rsrc pages. It is a 6'7" graphite rod with medium to fast action.A Shimano 2500 size reel spooled with 5lb power pro braid and 8lb mono

Thanks Martin and Tom for the feed back.Target Bully's in shallow water 5 to 20 mtrs deep. Most fall in the 5 to 7 foot range.Always hoping for the big girl to bite.Still having a bit of trouble understanding the power and action relationship.Manufacture's don't always list both. They do alway's list butt and tip diameter. Can you assume or know how a rod will be by looking at the specs ? Hi All, What are the pros and cons of fast vs xfast rod actions.Think calstar eglass 655 vs 6455.Used for sharking with tld 25 15kg line.Trying to pick a blank for my first build. The rods I use now are cheap factory rod that have a moderate action I think. Will be putting ring guides on.Don't use wind-on leaders at all.Instead have 8mtr long double that can get both thumbs on the spool to shift st

Hi Robert, I will try to get a copy of that magazine article.I have 3 factory buit rods that I have used for years and they have between 8 and 10 inch rear grips.I will put on harness and have a real good look at which seems better fit.Funny how you can use something for a long time and never put much thought in to it.Was looking at the ALPS durra butt (nylon slick I Think) and t

Can anyone shed some light on to how the length of a rear grip changes things on a 15kg standup style game rod.Is it purely a size thing for the person who the rod is for? Or are there other factors at play.Have buit my rod drier and now looking at getting the components for my first build.Reel will be Tld 25.Cheers.

Hi guy's, new to building and need to find suppliers for all rodbuilding stuff.Blanks,grips,guides,etc.Just wondering who Aussie builders are using to get there stuff from.Would prefer to buy from Aussie suppliers if possible.Looking at mudhole prices it may be still alot cheaper to get even with shipping and bad exchange rate.Any returns or problems would be a pain though.Cheers
