Thanks all, I have no issues with it I have just never seen it on my receipt until yesterday and thought it odd. Probably always have paid it but like some said it was buried in the prices. I do have an issue of being charged 10.00 per blank when 1 blank is 67.00 and 77.00. I feel I'm being overcharged and that is questionable business practices. I'm overcharged a little over 5.00 and I'm only 1

I've been buying blanks for a while now and I dont believe I have been charged excise tax on blanks. I am trying to order a few from NFC and they are hitting me the tax. Just curious if this is new since i haven't bought a blank in the last 2 months.

I have that issue and I use it as my go to. I have used those particular sleeves as well. I just noticed they have plain fiberglass in colors and off them in some custom camo pattern

Has anyone used fiberglass sleeves from Soller for grips? Not the Carbon/fiberglass but light fiberglass. I am so into composite grips now and was wondering. Some of the colors could make interesting grips.

So Herb, you just build the fighting butt on the blank and do not use a detachable or add on? Is there a benefit for a detachable?

I have a Rainshadow eternity 8wt on it's way. What size seat should I use with a fighting butt?

Thanks guys. Norman, I did think about that and did a check and re check to verify. Mainly because I wasnt sure. Next question, can I use a reel specified for 7/8 with a 5wt line. I have a friend willing to give me one but I was under the impression I had a rod for 8wt. Smh. This fly stuff is so different to me. Know one to learn from around my home

I built a fly rod that was given to me by a friend who lost all information on it. I assumed it was an 8wt because it was labeled 908. that was the only tag on it. I've had it for a while now and no reel. I wanted to make sure it was what I thought so I attempted to use common cents which until now I never have used. I don't quite understand what I'm looking for. My ERN is 5.20 and AA is 45. I ge

Thanks Quinn, I just set up a trip to Pere Marquette River Michigan in 2 weeks and have a guide lined up as well. They are supplying all equipment so I guess that will be as good time as any to figure things out as well. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts.

Quinn, I did fail to mention where I'll most likely be fishing. For the most part lake Michigan tributaries from Indiana up towards U.P. Michigan

I've been reading a lot of searched questions and it really doesn't seem very popular to pour your own foam cores these days or everyone just knows how to do it but me. It seems relatively easy but what I'm looking for is mold ideas. How hard is it to make a silicone mold? What type of mold release agents are you using? What type of material for the mandrals (aluminum or steel) I am going to at

I am gearing up to try my hand at carbon fiber grips. I have RM Volume 10 Issue 6 which stoked me further. I've watched Capt Mikes and of course Tom's video's and found them very helpful and searched this forum for info. - in the video I watched, Mike seals the foam core prior to sleeving and that makes total sense to me but what is he using to seal it? Is it the same epoxy that he wets the sl

I have been kicking around a separate lathe then I realized I just don't have the real estate available so I picked up an Alps chuck and tailstock. I setup a shop vac while sanding to help collect the mess and that helps immensely. We all wish we had the facilities to have one of everything but in reality some of us have the room for just one thing. Good luck

I just ordered for a few steelhead rods. Look great and I really like the thin rings. I can't wait to put them to the test.

Thanks, I got some good advise from here not too long ago to use chapstick on my guides for icing and it works. I've been using a 8'6" Cabelas Fish eagle that I picked up dirt cheap and it has micro guides that ice quick.

I have not had the opportunity to use microwave guides yet and I would like to. I am building myself a couple steelhead rods and wondering if they would be the right guides for one. 9'6" spinning 10'6" hotshot and 11'6" float. Thanks as always.

I am going to attempt to make my own composite handles. What would be the best epoxies to work with. I am going to use colored carbon/fg sleeves. Also, where would the best supplier for the foam tubes be? Thanks in advance

I asked a similar question not to long ago because of icing guides. One of the best things I found believe it or not was Chapstick on the guides. I tried it and works like a charm. Just thought I'd share that with you.

I went out fishing this morning and it was a nice 27 degrees. The one thing I did not consider when I got my float rod were icing of the guides. I picked it up second hand so I didnt even really care. Well now I do! What have some of you guys used for these type of rods. I like the rod itself its 11'6" ML lots of fun. But the size 5 guides aren't cutting it. Also, I have an 8'6" ML I us

Well, I guess I am just curious to see if anyone has been building on these. I dont see much discussion about them. I'd like to know if those that have are satisfied or not. I'll be sure to review this one after its complete.

I just received a Northfork Delta ST962-2 steelhead blank and not sure what I think of it yet. I'm am a creature of habit and like my blanks smooth and this is not it . It has a beautiful action to it though and I'm looking forward to building and fishing it.
