I just received a Northfork Delta ST962-2 steelhead blank and not sure what I think of it yet. I'm am a creature of habit and like my blanks smooth and this is not it . It has a beautiful action to it though and I'm looking forward to building and fishing it. Re: Anyone have experience with Northfork Delta Blanks

What do you want to know? They are by no means the first blanks that leave the epoxy ridges that oozed under the celophane wrapped on the blank to hold it together during baking. Edited 1 time(s). Well, I guess I am just curious to see if anyone has been building on these. I dont see much discussion about them. I'd like to know if those that have are satisfied or not. I'll be sure to review this one after its complete. Re: Anyone have experience with Northfork Delta Blanks

There have been earlier posts here, the custom rod building forum in other places also. I have limited experience and they have all been salmon rods. Unlike the composite blanks from Lamiglas and Cousins, the NFC blanks are much more lively, lighter and more like an all graphite blank, the reason is they are a multi-modulus combination of their HM and IM graphites combined with a special high modulus fiberglass.
The bass guys I've heard from have similar experinces, one lady angler said that if she and her husband didn't have different wraps on their rods they would be hard pressed to know which swimbait rod they were picking up between her IM, and his Delta. I said picking up, his rod has a bit softer tip which he perfers. Re: Anyone have experience with Northfork Delta Blanks

I built an mb708 for my 9 y/o. It has withstood his inadvertent high sticking unlike my St Croix 5C74HF that became a casualty today. It is pretty sensitive for what it is and the price you pay. I would take this over MHX any day (don’t expect quick service I waited 6 weeks to get my blanks). Long story short do I like the blank? Yes Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
