Thanks Roger. I am an avid ice fisherman and I am always looking for an edge and thought a carbon fiber handle would help. Never thought about it transferring the cold.

I am going to build some ice rods soon and I was thinking about using carbon fiber tubing for the handles. Has anyone here used it and if so what size tube would I be looking for? Thanks as always. Mark

I just finished a rod that is a gift to my father in law and I actually dont want to give it him now. I purchased a blank from Mudhole, one of their oem 6'6" med lite when it was on sale just because it was " on sale for 25.00". I didn't know what to expect but FIL is just a recreational fisherman. After completing this build I decided I am going to pick up a couple more, (when th

I've been MIA for a while for reasons related to too much work and family functions unrelated to fishing lol. I see more manufactures have entered the game for blanks and components. What's a favorite other than Fuji for guides and real sests these days.

Im not sure if I can ask but I know we've got some serious fly rod guys here so I'm reaching out for some guidance. I have a 9' 8wt I just completed. The blank and components were traded to me. I am going to be learning on this rod so I really don't want to drop a fortune on a reel. But.... I dont want something that will cause me to not enjoy my fly rod either. What is out there that is reasona

Dang Phil. You have serious flyrod knowledge. It's all new to me. I'm going to learn my 6wt and build the 8wt. I remember when this guy bought tghe kit it was like 8 years ago

Yeah, the 9' and 2 piece were pretty obvious. I was assuming 8 wt because it's heavier than my current 6 wt rod. I'd love if someone recognized that model for mfg. The guy said he did not remember even where he purchased it.

An aquantence gave me a flyrod kit with no information about it. He wanted to build it but lost interest. The only thing I have on it is the bag written in marker. SWGF 908-2. If I was a betting man I would say 9' 8wt 2 piece. Am I in the ballpark?
