Myself an my girlfriend living in my 4 bedroom house. I have an entire bedroom, 15' X 10' with a walk in closet for my room. My machine is mounted on a table I made on one of the 15' walls, 14' feet long, 24 inches deep. I have all kinds of rolling carts with drawers for all my goodies as well as rod holders on the ceiling. ... and yet at times, it seems like its still not enough r

I'm going to throw this into the post as I saw you were mentioning EVA grips. If you want to take it a step further, Mudhole has this 25% off sale going on right now on Winn grips. Don't know if you've ever used Winn grips before, but every time I put them on a rod, there is never a complaint! This is a 9" to 12" piece to look at ... These are all the Winn grips f

What I find interesting is the DEPTH of the information on this site. You could pose a question like, "I was thinking of using a black Sharpie cap to cover the end of my ferule while I applied some Trondak with a Sable hair brush at 70°" and SOMEONE will have some information that will assist you like "Never use a Black Sharpie cap, make sure its a Brown Sharpie, warm the Tron

Legalzoom. its the easiest and fastest way to get yourself up and running, getting you completely legal with all the paperwork done and filed for you. All you have to do is fill out all the pertinent information, pay the fee, and they do the rest. I am sure others will chime in with their suggestions but this is how my girlfriend and myself set up our entire "LLC" business. We

If Rogers suggestion above doesn't do the trick, 1. The old standby that cleans most everything, Bleach. I use a spray bottle of Clorox Clean Up for a lot of things like you are talking about. 2. If you need to get heavier, a light solution (1 cup to a gallon of water) of Muriatic acid in a pump sprayer. By the way, I use this same solution to get rid of rust stains on the floor of my fib

My "magic number" has been 24 inches on center! I don't know if this will work for you, but that's my magic number. Its always 24 inches from the butt of the rod to the CENTER of the reel seat. If you have your reel, and you have your seat, make a "tape arbor" on the rod, just like you would if you were going to epoxy the seat onto the rod. Slide the seat onto the ar

Someone once told me to get a Van Stahl. I cringe at their prices and I mean CRINGE when I see the price tag, but if you're looking for a reel that supposedly never, ever fails and is the epitome of "everything resistant", its the reel of choice and I see plenty of guys with them at the beach here in Cocoa Beach. If you're planning on never getting rid of that reel, its an investment th

Hey Mike, On another note, sometimes when my brain is all "a' twisted" on a color pattern, I'll go to Wallymart and pick up some thread. They have just about every hue of color thread in the "sewing department". I'll pull the colors right up on my phone and stand there and compare the color to what they have and 99% of the time, its pretty darn spot on. The spools

Mr Mike, You could possible use White to wrap the eyes with Black trim bands, that might give you a IU color scheme to avoid family conflicts! LOL! You might also consider using a "Silver Metallic" in place of the Gray or just tell people the "Gray" is a "Pewter" ! ... They do use the Silver with the black on the trim bands in the photo on the Sage website,

I have always found that Gray and Black always work very well with Red. I have wrapped Red rods with the eyes with a light Gray and put accent bands on either end of the Gray in Black to separate the Gray from the Red rod. If you want to see how these colors go together, check out the Ohio State Buckeyes logo, these three colors work unless you're not a Buckeyes fan! Looking forward to seein

For me, the rods turns AWAY from me and the thread comes from below. It makes it easier to do tie in's and leaves. Any other way is just a nightmare because I have fat fingers!

I LOVE your "electronics box" with the "Forward / Reverse" and "Panel or Pedal" option! The very first time I started wrapping, those were the 2 things I wish my unit had. Excellent work!

This is just me adding my 2 cents ..... I usually build 7' foot rods, I will make a 6' 6" and a 6' footer from time to time, but most of my rods are 7' footers. For explanation of my message, there are 4 parts to the split grip: The Butt Cap Rear Split Grip Reel Seat Foregrip From the butt end of the blank without the Butt Cap on, to the back of the Rear Split Grip, I have a

I've never paid shipping on any order thru Mudhole, but then again, I've never got out of their site without spending at least $100 dollars! LOL! Either way, their "standard shipping" is free no matter how much you spend. I have a $215 dollar order arriving today as matter in fact so I get the feeling I'll be "feeling ill" as soon as I receive the FedEx delivery notice t

So my first issue of Rodmaker arrived and Holy Crap, I Love This Magazine! I wasn't expecting what I received, so that was an even better bonus. The feature article about the "Tiger Stripes" , WHO'D have thunk it?!?!... It gave me a few interesting ideas that I now plan on bringing to fruition and all the other articles were just as interesting but that Tiger Stripe article jus

Just adding to this, I wish all manufacturer's could "standardize" when it comes to calling out their blanks. I don't mind doing the research but at times, it would just be nice to look, see and know. It would also make it a ton easier when someone calls me and tells me "I want the exact same feel as the rod I own now". They could tell me the numbers on the blank and I could e

So this is a shoutout and a HUGE Thank You to Paul at Mudhole Customer Service in reference to a blank I purchased. I actually purchased 8 blanks for a special build, 4 Gloss White and 4 Teal blanks. Without thinking (Hard to believe I know!) I put handles on 2 of the Whites and 2 of the Teals. After I had the handles on, the next day, I noticed a "blemish" in the finish on one

I hate giving the babies away let alone the fact that I have SUCH insane "OCD" that I make 2 rods, no matter what style or pattern or color and if they only buy one rod, I kind of cringe! What is REALLY awesome though is when I go to the beach fishing and I see one of my rods, in action. All the beach rods I make are Yellow so its easy to spot them!

Sam, Adding to this conversation …. One of the issues you may run into is the "middle man" when it comes to some blanks. It took some research for me to find the same blank I was buying from a place that I paid a decent amount for and was able to find after in-depth research for a substantial difference in price. This can be really advantageous if Company A is selling the blank

Thank you both, I am probably going to do some shopping here this weekend for some new blanks! And thank GOODNESS I live close to Orlando and Mudhole as I can probably strap those one piece, 13 footers to the top of my truck! I know ANYTHING over 9 feet now is (GASP!) $225 for shipping!

I'm looking for any and all suppliers of 1 and 2 piece Beach Rod blanks. Carbon fiber and graphite. The smaller diameter at the butt end, the better. 10, 12, 14. 16 foot or any size / combination of pieces over 12 foot. Looking to see what is out there so I can make some new options available. Thank you in advance!

If I can add anything to what has already been said, I will add what I posted in a different post this month. I take my bottles of both resin and hardener and put them in a Tupperware (or any plastic) bowl and start filling the bowl with water until the bottles are JUST ABOUT to start floating. Take the bottles out and put the bowl of water in the microwave for 3 to 5 minutes. Take the b

Good Question! "Traditionalists" love the cork! EVA comes in SO MANY colors which is a selling point. They also make them in very large inside diameters which is what I use for my larger diameter beach rods. Winn Grips are great in colder and wet conditions, lots of grip and no slip and people love the look and feel. Winn Tape is also a great wrap for my smaller diameter beach ro
