This is just a shout out to one of this boards sponsors and moreover, Debbie at Decal Connection. She always puts up with my stupidity and endless questions to give me more than I was expecting. If you're looking to get anything "decal" oriented, she can either make whatever you send her or help you out and make exactly what you are thinking about. Sometimes, I think she can read my min

Bob,
They are the exact same size, diameter, thickness but they are Red Silicone which outlasted Buna N all day long. They are a lighter durometer, but the are totally pliable. After a month, my Buna rings showed wear, after a month of using the Silicone rings, they still look like the day they arrived.

I've done exactly what your talking about a couple times. 800 sandpaper and alcohol to clean it up before wrapping and everything sticks and looks like new.

3 secrets, 2 secret I learned from people on this site, one secret I learned on my own:
1. Exactly as Bill Sidney suggested, Take the full closed Pro Kote High Build bottles and put them into a Tupperware or plastic bowl. Fill the bowl with water until the bottles are JUST ABOUT to start floating. Empty out some of the water so the bottles still sit on the bottom of the bowl. Remove the bottl

Good morning all.
I just thought I would share this. My wrapper came with 2 Buna-N black rings and as expected, over time, one of the rings finally split. Not wanting to be without a "backup" ring for the wrapper, I looked around and being an Engineer, I wanted something a little "softer" and with a little more "grip". I went to McMaster Carr and was able to purc

Greetings all. So I have been mixing my 2 part thread finish for as long as I can remember and I am thinking about changing to a 1 part finish. Getting tired of the mess and the waste, as far as what I have to deal with. I'm looking at Threadmaster/Rod Dancer 1 part, but I'm open to options, discussion, debate, pros/cons and suggestions. As always, all help is greatly appreciated.

99. Re: Surf rod
If I may suggest, check out CUI Products, talk to Terry Stupp and tell him I sent you! I am somewhat new to this site as well and haven't figured out how to post pics, but if you private message me, I can send some to your email. I purchased 2 sets of surf rod blanks from him, two 12 foot 2 piece rods and two 14 foot 2 piece rods that I am making as we speak in Honey Yellow, but they also come in

Greetings All.
I am thinking about making a couple rods with EITHER the Wave G2 seats or the Apex G2 seats with the silver inserts, uni lock hoods.
Anyone wrap any rods with either of these? Any pics? I can "see" it in my mind, but I want to ask if there are any advantages/disadvantages to either one of them. I know its all personal preference, just wondering if people have an

I have an American Tackle Power Wrapper with the dryer. The wrapper spins "away" from me, which is great. The dryer spins "towards" me, which is what I want to change.
If it were a 12 volt motor, geat, I would reverse the wires/polarity and fix the problem. Is there SOMETHING I can do?

Thank you EVERYONE! This is exactly what I was looking for and I'll do my best to buy from everyone just to support our sponsors!
Since Pompano season has started here in Florida, I have been receiving all kinds of "inquiries" shall we say about replacing eyes on beach rods but a lot of people want hew handles because they get all messed up when you put them in the beach rod holders

I am searching for a large inside diameter EVA Foam grip for a large 1.180 outside diameter beach rod blank. Everything I am able to find so far, the largest ID I can find is .690.
Can anyone assist me in this search?

This is exactly what I am doing. I just received a new rod wrapper for Christmas and I am stripping all the blanks I have where eyes or handles broke. If there were eyes, I was able to cut them off with a razor and then turn the rod in the wrapper and used 120 grit to get rid of the epoxy and then an 800 grit to make it smooth. I plan on doing what you plan, a 1200 to give it a good finish. How I

108. Re: Grip length
I like the 14 inch length you speak of! My only question is, in that the entire grip from foregrip all the way to the back of the blank or is that the length of the grip from the reel seat to the back of the blank?

Dial. Mechanical Engineer by trade and the first REAL place I worked at, the owner made certain that everyone not only received a pair of dial calipers for free, but made sure ALL digital calipers were removed from the floor and basically, for the whole reason of "batteries dying" and once I got dial calipers understood, it was nothing to look at it and know the measurement and the conv

David,
My thought exactly as far as putting this thing together. Even without the hardware in my possession, I found a video showing the procedure and thought it flawed, but understand the 32" inch sections are easier, and cheaper to send than 4 foot or an 8 foot section but still, a few better ideas come to mind.
The holes in the sections are unfinished and heavily burred and would

Thank you to everyone for your input. I kinda figured the alignment tool was kind of "hit or miss" and I learned a few new ideas which will help immensely!
Everyone here in Central Florida is just CRAZY about the Airwave guides and no one wants to part with their existing blanks so business has been good replacing them. The problem is that they are so small and black and it seems l

David,
Thank you for your input! I am probably a couple weeks from pulling the trigger on the new chuck. I figure I'll get to know this wrapper a little and then buy it.
By the way, my wrapper showed up today in the mail 3 days ahead of schedule, but it is missing the hardware to connect the bases! My life sometimes...!

I've never had any issues with aligning my eyes when replacing them butvit always been such a tedious task for me. Even when I think I have them just perfect, I still look down the rod and pontificate thinking one eye is .001 out of alignment with all the others. My girlfriend calls me a "perfectionist to the extreme", i just want to make it right!
Right now, I have a "V" s

David,
Thank you for the advice. I have been reading a few reports about upgrading the chuck, and I am assuming this is the chuck you are speaking of? I found this at Get Bit. I have been reading where people have been using rubber bands and such around the shaft to keep it in place, I am assuming this takes care of those issues.
Right now, I plan on stripping down some rods I have

Greetings from Merritt Island, Florida. This is my first post and I thought I would introduce myself and ask a few questions.
I have been wrapping rods for some time and like others I have been reading about, things are starting to pick up a little with rod inquiries and orders. Everything I have been doing has either been replace eyes, adding new eyes (Airwave) or fixing handles and such. I
