RodGeeks also makes some 2pc blanks. Check with Billy Vivona for his recommendations. What specifically are you fishing for? What sized baits are you throwing? Just a few questions asked to help narrow things down.

Gabriel,it would be nice to see a color chart of the metallic colors on the website. I have been waiting since the ICast show to see them all. Thank you.

If those are what I believe they are,ie; fancy zip ties, then yes. Not a great idea without something acting as a barrier,or cushion between the reel and the blank.

Another option,is to build up the potential handle area with cork tape or cord, covering with the shrink tubing then using one of the adjustable graphite seats that Mudhole is clearing out. They adjust along the blank and tighten where desire. They fit between 28 and 30mm. Thus, the need to add something between the seat and blank. Not just for cushioning, but gap fitting as well.

I hate to assume,so if you haven't already done so,I would contact the seller regarding their return policy. If the seller doesn't accept returns, the build the one with the tip bend on the straightest axis. The other I would save for doing experrimental wraps on,or something else. Like using different thread colors with, and without color preservers and so on. Additionally,BEFORE building them,I

Phil, the Apogee FleaFlicker blanks were made in Japan. The plant burned down and never rebuilt.

Mo,if the fleaflicker blanks you are referring to were made for Dale Clemens Custom Tackle, that is incorrect. Only the tip area was solid graphite. It was only about 12 inches long,or thereabouts. The rest of the blank was tubular.

Linda, that makes a great deal of sense. The handles I have seen that work composed of birch bark, or very thin rings. The thinner the ring, the more glue bonds it together. I can easily see that strengthening the handle overall. Thank you for your insight, shared from your experiences. Hard to go wrong with solid firsthand information.

I tried that once in the 60s. Those were the days of varnishes. It worked and held up. Just not very well. Doc Ski is using some on his tiger (Throop) wraps with success.

I used to do their repair work in the late 90s. I never knew of any kept on hand for replacements. That being said, keep your eyes peeled in pawn shops, flea markets, and yard sales.

Correct. If the centers will be off even a few millimeters,i would do 2 separate wraps.

Personally,I would mark my axis' at the same time and run from the area of the split grip and under the real seat through the desired length of the area in front of the foregrip. Then mark your centers for each wrap section based on the measurements. Particularly if there is a noticeable change in the tapers,or diameters for each one.

Payne was a bamboo rod crafter with taper designs all his own, such as Paul Young and many others. Although I once owned a Diamondback rod,I don't think he was ever affiliated with Diamonback rods. I could be wrong. I would imagine they were made to replicate Payne rods casting characteristics, powers, etc. Much the same as modern bamboo rods are crafted on the same tapers as the better ones of the

Try buying ice rod blanks. Or consider sourcing them from current manufacturers. Realize, that if you source them from current manufacturers, you won't have a warranty, which is probably no different than before. You may need to meet minimum requirements, such as 50 pieces at a time. That would likely be the same as having a manufacturer do a special run of just extra tip sections for you. You coul

I would say why would there be,yet there are many possibilities as to why not. Differences in proprietary pre-peg materials, etc. Take a chance on either one. You ought to be okay. Both produce quality products.

Consider the hot melt glue for fletching arrows. It has a higher melting point than any of the above mentioned glues. Thus,it wont melt and loosen in the heat of an enclosed car if left for an extended period.

Either size will do. I would opt for the smaller grip. The compression of the EVA will give a firmer grip in your hand. You are free to ream it a bit,if you wish to. Not knowing the length of your rear grip or the OD of your blank where the upper portion of the rear grip will be,you know the .375 won't be loose. I doubt the taper is so extreme that the larger ID grip won't work. It should fit fin

Bill,do you have a hidden beef with them? An emergency on someone's part due to lack of planning or preparation, does not automatically mean the same on a suppliers end of things. When a manufacturer suddenly cuts their prices, I would expect immediate high-volume sales. It's the old you snooze, you lose situation. Most manufacturers have gone to the right on time system. Which simply mea

Absolutely. I built one for my late FIL as well. When he passed,I was offered the rod. I said it belonged with his son,not me. His son wept at my passing to it's rightful heir. That was 18 years ago now. His son still routinely fishes it and thinks of his father every time. And even of me despite my divorcing his step-sister. That was a special rod in so many ways. As has been mentioned, a piece

Go for the RT130 instead. I suspect your choice will suffice though. I wouldn't trim from the bottom. Is there a reason for trimming?

Dondi, the replies above should answer your question. Next time,it would be wise to do a dry fit of the components before you mix your epoxy.

If you want the tiger to show movement and really pop,you need more contrast on the bottom wrap. I don't see your colors providing that definition. Yellow or white will do your end result more justice. Metallic silver or gold can be used in lieu of yellow or white.
