Noel, As I viewed an enlarged picture of the wrap,I noted "ridges" in it. My experience tells me the same as what you have already been told. Thread tension and packing are the culprits. As you gain experience, you will gain better understanding about these factors. You already see their effects. As far as tension goes,I detected some inconsistency there. Hence, the ridges. As for a c

It may be a moot point to some, but the finish hasn't fully "cured" in that brief amount of time. I wouldn't think of handing it over before then. But...to each their own.At the very least, the customer should be informed of that upon delivery. Just my two cents worth. Chuck

Dave...just look at any pics on the photo page of works in progress...that will show you how. Some like to start their weave threads and background wrap before mounting the section of loom on the rod away from the direction of thread travel. They add it later. You can mount both at the same time and do it that way also. Its a matter of personal preference, nothing more.Find what works best for you

I believe it would be a violation of Fenwicks registered trademark logo to do any reproduction of that on a decal. If you had an ALPS printer(or know someone that does-hint hint) you could scan the logo and make your own.As Decal Connection would be selling any made, they could be subject to legal action. And before anyones asks...no,I do NOT have an ALPS printer. Chuck

Hi Daniel I have just used a utility knife to scrape the top of the guide foot smooth. I use guides that fit the blank and rarely have had to shave any material from the side of the foot. I suppose the rough design was to prevent them from pulling loose from the wraps. Just use the Forhan locking wrap and there should be no problems. Chuck

Some of the sponsors of this site carry the Sevier Tiger Eye blanks. They can get the 10 footer that will fit the bill. Just add an extension for the length you want.

A one-piece yellow 8 ft 8wt? Extend the butt and make a ferrule? Or use a featherweight ferrule? I do have a FL 96-8.

The only place I know of,is Tackle Specialties themselves. And they may not sell it as it is their own proprietary color. I too love it but I can get by with others. You might try emailing our esteemed colleague,Jim Kastorff for an answer to your question.I know of at least one other builder in the San Diego area that has some so it may be possible to purchase it. Good Luck

Larry,a good automotive polish like Meguiars might be the answer. If all else fails, try a Scotchbrite pad. A word of caution here, stay away from strong chemical solvents as they can do irreparable harm to the blank. Also, should you be tempted to use sandpaper or something similar,go easy with them.Use only the finest available, something like 600 or better. I think the best results will come from th

Daniel, like rod blanks, guides are similar in that they don't know what their use is intended for. As others have stated, they will do fine. They are also much better in construction than their 2 footed plastic predecessors of 30+ years ago. As for prepping them,I prefer to scrape the upper edge of the foot to remove the rough surface. While I am sure some builders are ok with that, and may even

Ted,your question is probably best answered by the manufacturers as to why they don't make them. As for a potential solution in the meantime, try one of the "TigerEye" blanks(or any other) in the 4 pc. configuration.Just drop the butt section. I am sure the retail sponsors can advise you of any change to the action. I have bought two matching Tiger Eyes and made one as a four piece an

Years ago,I did a rewrap with monofilament and it worked out ok.This was before epoxy finishes were formulated and the norm. I got the idea from seeing a friend fish a Heddon(I think it was) that was wrapped with stainless steel wire. I think I have even seen a pic posted of a wrap or wraps that were done with flourocarbon mono.Very nice looking I might add. The bottom line for me is,thread

Ellis,I am sure you are probably referring to the hardware used.If not, please correct me. There are Titanium seats from several manufacturers. Some might just be plating and another may be from titanium bar stock.I think Struble's is from the latter.Maybe you can get something in skeleton form or just dress up a Fuji.A wood insert would be nice and Tom Kirkman has done a piece on them for Rodmake

I have one of the old Clemens lathes and the original 1/15 hp motor.I have turned alot of cork,EVA,and hypalon with it.When turning blocks of EVA,I knock off the 90 degree edges to "round it up" a bit first. I haven't tried to use it for wood though. I am not so sure I couldn't use it for that. Someday,I may even upgrade to the 1/10 hp motor. JMHO Merry Christmas to all, Chuc
