I never used the locking wrap on any of my size 5 KT runners , they're all super solid and i have had no issues . The KB's foot is far easier to wrap on though no question about it and the height and ring are identical to the KT's , i still use KT's after using the KB as the choke guide though but some use all KB's from the choke out toward the tip due to the larger foot being easier to wrap ,

I would guess that many many craftsman throughout the world have made fly rods from other species of bamboo and i would also guess that it's the main reason why so many say stick with Tonkin cane .

Still confused about the KR concept , the below groupings are the most popular for spinning rods but unfortunately KR guide kits don't include the most popular matches . For spinning rods that use up to 15lb braid or up to 8lb mono: KL16H, KL8H, KL5.5M For spinning rods that use 15 to 20 lb braid or 8lb - 12lb mono: KL20H, KL10H, KL5.5M For spinning Rods that use 20lb braid

The Anglers Resource website should remove the " Guide Placement Software" link that is directly above the KR GPS software link because that continues to confuse a lot of people . The "Guide Placement Software" link is for the NGC software , they should rename it NGC GPS which would be far far less confusing to people . All KR concept builds should use the below link NO

The "No brainer" comment was "Sarcasm" on my part meant to show how confusing that bass anglers comments could be to a newbie, the comment made braid and mono both seem like the way to go for increased hookup ratio's lol. First line : "Braid allows me to get a solid hookup before the bass spits the bait helping your hookup ratio and presentation" Second lin

David Baylor: "Herb, in reference to your latest post, it is not that at all. The slower actions with braided line in mind are meant to help anglers land fish with a line that can and does go slack in fractions of a second. The slower actions recover slower thereby keeping tension on the line. It's no different than slower actions being better at keeping fish hooked on treble hooked lu

Ahh yes, the classic Alvey reel. My question is how did you know Scott was an Aussie living outside his native country , Phil continues to amaze , he just knows these things.

Wow, a 14 footer , i'm sure someone knows where to find one but i don't . The best long surf rod imo is the CTS 13'6 models which are very popular . I bought a CTS 12 footer and while it was as awesome as expected i realized it was just too long , not only did i have trouble casting it i found it impossible to hold and fish comfortably with it . I sold it and bought two eleven foot model's

I looked over the RG42 and said to myself " Who in their right mind would ever buy that thing" so not only have i not fished that " Fisher Price" looking toy i have no plans on purchasing one either . May work for hooking those plastic fish on a living room carpet though.

I went over the descriptions in the Bass series in carbon II and carbon IV and it says the actions are slightly slower to accommodate braided line , this must be code for ( We know bass anglers abuse rods & tend to break them ) so we're forced to make them a little more durable. I understand that way of thinking completely i just hope RodGeeks leaves the other rod series they offer alone eve

How can you possibly measure the term " Slightly" , maybe Phil E knows , he invented the "Feeling indicator of measurement" exceedingly accurate .

Bob , you decided to scrap all the posts you made about the St. Croix blank you bought , we were all set it was just deciding on the reel seat placement and you were on your way to Mexico . I guess you never even started the last one huh ? Anyways i didn't even think 4 foot rods existed so i'll bow out of this one , you sure thats not the length of just the handle section?

Never thought of using lights and aluminum foil as a reflector , i just let dry under fluorescents for being able to see what i was doing not as an intent to dry faster. I used portable electric heaters to get the room temp up to 75 degrees ( I'm in a cold basement) and it worked well enough . At first i learned the hard way about how critical temps are , one time i attempted to apply epoxy wh

Batson usually replies almost instantly and with them being at the Fred Hall show in Long Beach Cali from March 6 - 10th they deserve a little bit slack. I feel one of their reps could of responded to this question quicker however they see whats up throughout the day on these forums.

My experiments have resulted in countless tragedies, Norm is the one who has had success . Tragedy: An event causing great suffering, calamity, destruction and distress, disaster such as a serious accident, fatal event , catastrophe. The above definition fits perfectly as to what i have experienced when i had the urge to experiment .

I don't use CP but thats a good thing to know , with a build i'm almost finished with i stick to things i'm familiar with and what has worked well for me , i call it using "Basic common sense " . That old saying "Don't try to fix whats not broken" is very very sound advice , problem is i never used to listen to that advice , i used to try and fix stuff that wasn't broken and
