A Sustain 4000 with 15 pound braid will cast into the next time zone with a 16 stripper or 20 stripper , trying to distinguish a difference is a lesson in futility . I use a 25 size stripper on my eleven foot surf rods and my reels spool diameter is close to twice the size of the 4000 Sustain , why does it work so well ....because i also use light braid under 20 pounds . Only go with guide size

I have a RodGeeks gloss finished blank and the bare graphite and both are beautiful , if customers don't like it i would just send it back and choose a color they do like instead of stripping it down . If you couldn't return it then stripping it down would be a step to consider but RodGeeks has superb customer service and will go out of their way to make sure you're satisfied. Lets wait unti

Best results i have had with Threadmaster both regular and lite ( Now this IS NOT recommended) but after extensive failures in the beginning i do two things now and these two things have resulted in perfect results every time , i boil water in a big pot , i take it off the stove place it on a concrete floor and place the Threadmaster into the pot . I wait about 3 minutes and measure and pour

Here is a piece from Andy Dear on Threadmaster : "More than likely your problem is the temp of the room and the temp of the unmixed resin and hardener. Most people who expierence problems with bubbles this time of year are trying to use their epoxy in a room that is much too cold. The room HAS to be at least 68-70 degrees to achieve optimum results. This is not just with TM but with any

Phil Ewanicki: " Is this a common practice, and which style of casting is assumed in the manufacturer's recommended casting weights" Unfortunately i do think it's quite common but it shouldn't be as throwing weight ranges outside the blanks " Sweet spot" doesn't provide the best results at either the high or low end of it's ratings . If you know that 98% of the

The only thing listed in Alabama is the below although there are many that exist that don't advertise . If you click on the "Directory " link above next to Photos and Glossary Tackleworks comes up . I would guess maybe 5% of rod builders are shown though as even large states show a mere one or two builders. Custom Rod Building, Rod Repair & Rod Parts rod

Fantastic info Seth and to Travis , going with the official Fuji KR concept guides or Pacific Bay Minamas is the right choice and i think your friend will be exceptionally pleased. Use the below link for KR guide layout software NOT this link , the below link is for NGC guide placement software. Some get the two mixed up because Anglers Resource has the NGC software li

After checking multiple sources for the REC guides trying to find the heights of them that would determine if they could possibly work for a KR build i have come up empty , their heights are not listed on their official website or Mudhole. Thats something that you need to know beforehand . If your friend really wants a true KR concept rod the Fuji KR concept guides or the Pacific Bay Minima

Carol Staiculescu: " When it comes to casting length, most people tend to say that if braid is involved it doesn't really matter the stripper diameter but that is not the case. It is one thing to cast a 100 grams spoon with a surf rod and a completely different thing to cast a 2 grams crankbait with a trout or crappie rod when every meter counts. So, you need to adapt your build to accord

I also utilize the "Eyeball" method of measuring with Pro Paste epoxy and never had an issue , these types don't have to be dead on accurate like many rod finishes do , the " Looks about equal to me" is A OK , just mix them together well .

I always forget to answer at least one question and this time it's whether using a KB effects casting distance , the answer is definitely not , the KB is the same size and shape as the KT so it has zero effect on casting distance . It just offers a little more strength at that specific point where the line changes direction.

Lance , i understand , my post was to let David know that with NFC the time you may have to wait could be lengthly or relatively quick you just never know . You aren't the first who has had blanks arrive that were broken thats something that just should not happen these days . That is always a possibility when shipping blanks in cardboard tubes , Herb L ships CTS blanks only in PVC tubing (The

Hitena thread is considerably more stretchable than Pro Wraps thread and it snaps right back without taking a permanent set after it's stretched . The one thing i noticed about Pro Wrap is it's strength , their A size thread has the breaking equivalent of size B and C thread of some other manufacturers but that could be caused by it's diameter which i have not tested . If it's thicker in diamete

So he just sent you the rod without the reel and line he was using ? What are you going to do send it back and tell him you tested it with your reel and it's fine ? He probably automatically assumes it must be a defect in the layout or something , anyways good luck you did the right thing by checking it out .

You're supposed to ask this question before you're done with the rod lol . No worries, i use the same and think it looks great , most say regular nylon is more vibrant and i would agree but the colorfast looks great to me and apparently it's A OK for thousands of others as well because it is popular . Most rod finishes will turn a yellowish shade when exposed to years of sunlight , CP keeps th

Yes, you can use just KT's , although i use a single KB as the choke guide on spinning rods using all KT's will have absolutely zero negative effect on the rods performance . I also agree 100% with Seth with his comment about not being able to tell a difference if a rod is equipped with all KB's or all KT's .
