The KW guides are offered in heights much higher than the tallest RV guides are offered in , the RV offers a 25 ring in the 55 mm height which the KW frames do not but the KW double foots offer heights up to 86 mm but only with huge ring sizes. RV double foots come with rings larger than the 25 mm they come in 30 mm and 40 mm also but they are shorter in height than the 25 .

Tom's exact words from his article in the library under "Static load testing" " Why use a separate line to load the rod instead of the line coming from the reel? Well, if you load the line coming from the reel, you don't get a true picture of how you blank wants and needs to flex. That's right - the line pulling between the guides can force the blank into a bend it wouldn't oth

When you order an NFC blank you can get it within two weeks or two months you just never know but people have learned that will be the case going in . The good news is the overwhelming majority are very very pleased once they receive the product . If you're on a time schedule or will not be able to wait that amount of time if necessary to do so than you shouldn't order .

I went to my desk and i have those two guides in front of me right now and i'm looking at them under this giant $5.00 magnifying glass and i'm seeing zero difference except for the foot everything else is identical . Even Fuji's literature says the only difference is the foot , anyway it's not worth arguing about , the OP got his answer .

The KB's frame is not any stronger, it is identical in every way to the KT frame ONLY the foot is different . If you mean the "Foot" makes it stronger than that is correct but the frame is the same as the KT .

The use of two separate lines is to show the real bend in the blank compared to using a single line with forces the blank into a bend that the guides dictate .

Mark brings up a good point , that video was meant to show just how to do the reduction guide layout when you want to match a specific reel to a specific rod , pay no mind to everything else. I actually used the Windows "Snipping tool in an attempt to just post a pic of the reel and line attached to the reels spindle while the reel was upside down because thats the only relevant part of th

Interesting Tom , i keep forgetting my experiences is with mostly surf rod reel seat sizes and some of those required a 22 mm seat which i find a bit large for comfort . When i think of light freshwater or saltwater i could see many going really small since the blank allows it , the blanks i typically deal with do not .

Price would probably go through the roof if they equipped the rod's with titanium framed guides , St. Croix decided to equip all their latest Legend surf rods with Titanium torzite guides and the price jumped from an average of $400.00 + when they used Fuji's black Alconite LC frames to $600.00 + with Fuji's best Titanium torzites.

Forgot to add, i agree completely with you about a lack of info and especially helpful descriptions on websites regarding certain components , you need to have the blank in hand and measure thats really the only way . I can't tell you all the times i bought components that ended up not fitting correctly , if one website isn't providing enough info check others . Once you have the blank and

You're really putting the cart way before the horse , components are chosen after the blank has been decided on , you match the components to the blank not the other way around . Buy the blank and after you get that you proceed with your preferred reel seat size and then after that you can decide on winding checks etc... The blank you choose determines how small a reel seat you can go with

I always choose a rod before the reel , the rod choice determines much more than a reel does . You can use a variety of reels and all will be suitable and do the job but if the rod choice isn't correct everything goes out the window . I have never based a rod choice on what reel i had or planned to use rod ALWAYS comes first . Most surf rod articles are written with using mono in mind fro

So you want to match a specific reel to a specific rod and the combination will be kept together as a match is that right ? If thats what you want to do there is no better method than the below method and it's exactly how i layout my surf rods. I go with a much smaller choke and running guides though since i don't use 50 pound braid like Lou does.

I haven't seen any bend , i love the RV strippers though but i don't think they have a strength advantage they just work better thats why i have a few surf rods that utilize them as strippers. I have no experience with heavy duty rods though so can't really help you there.

Just a picture of the rod/reel will likely solve the problem , there's really nothing to Microwave systems either it's setup correctly or not , as long as you chose the correct Microwave system of course. As a general rule of thumb popular spinners in the 4000 size have a spool diameter virtually equal to that of 2000 size models the thing that changes the most is the depth of the spool . Sh

Most 4000 size spinners have a spool diameter of around 50 mm which is not that wide by any means , i agree with Tom about how much line is on the spool and what kind of line is it , if the spool is not adequately filled or he's using braid above 20 pounds either will cause issues with casting . Spinners of that size matched up to 7 foot light action rods really excel with light braid 10 to 15 p

You're right Stan after looking over the thread again i apologize , my mistake . I thought Lynn's post about Bob was a little harsh , Bob has a habit of starting new threads that ask the same things which have been answered over and over but for some reason he's not grasping the info . What does make sense to me is if Noah wants to get into the art of rod crafting bamboo rods then constructing one out of any species of Bamboo would be highly beneficial and maybe if you really like it and get good you can purchase the materials to build a real masterpiece down the line. You should check out some of the Bamboo fishing gear by some of the sponsors on the left .

Insanity definition , doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result . I take advantage of the countless craftsmen that experimented to find out what to stay away from and what works , experimenting is great IF something can be learned and gained , experimentation is a complete waste of time IF it's already been proven and widely accepted as fact . Some people just have to go through it themselves though because they figure the craftsman who did it in the past forgot a certain step and thats why the rod wasn't a success , the craftsman of today know better , they just don't forget certain steps like the inferior craftsman of days gone by. This process has repeated itself over & over going all the way back to when the Neanderthal's cra
