LCSG stripper size for conventional rod?

Hi, my first post here.

So I am rebuilding an old 14' conventional surf rod and am going to replace the old guides with better Fuji LCSG. Reel used would be the Shimano Calcutta Conquest 401.

I ordered some LCSG, from #20 down to #6. I read that Fuji suggested the #20 for stripper guide for spinning rod and I have ordered one anyway. When I received it the #20 seems a bit too tall to go with the baitcaster. What do you think? Would you suggest the #20 or the #16 for stripper guide?

I checked my other baitcast 7'6" 1~3oz Swimbait rod which uses the LCSG #16 as stripper. So I think the #16 should work but for a longer surf rod I am not sure if it is better to go bigger? I will be using braid anyway.

Thanks.

Choose the one that is the correct height for the line coming off the spool when the stripper is 24-28 inches from the reel. Tape and test. Probably the 16.

If your using the same line and reel, why would the length make a difference? Don't make things harder than it has to be.
Bass and steelhead anglers have used the same lines and reels on vastly different rods forever.

Thanks. Because on the Swimbait rod with the LCSG #16 as stripper I only need to cast maybe 30~50m while for the 14' surf rod I aim to cast maybe 80m and further. Not sure if bigger guide/bigger ring helps.

The 20 has bigger ring but I think it is a bit too tall.

It seems to me that a stripper guide being too tall can rob you of distance as well.

Not with braid it doesn't especially braid 30 pounds and under , i also think the LC 20 is overly tall for a baitcast reel , unfortunate that the LC frames in titanium are so hard to find, ( Possibly discontinued) because the LC frames are HEAVY guides and part of the reason why is their long sweeping legs .
