seriously the parts alone will be around 200.00 for a build and that is the low end of guides seat foam grip with nothing fancy single wraps no decoration wraps. the blank would cost 150.00 or more and you would like to know if anyone would make one for you for around a 100.00 not going to happen so either pay Cabales off sale price or just wait till it goes on sale again and then buy it F

was it mounted with a full arbor or spaced shim style arbor . I would use a heat gun and the pvc tube but you need to have the ability to rotate and move the seat up and down through the heat flow just don't get it to hot just enough to soften the epoxy. Norm is right it is the best way to remove a seat with out hurting the blank

you would think that it would give him more control but I guess to each his own one thing I do when I get a customer that wants a spin or cast rod I give him a rod with a reel o it to hold and measure from the center of the 2 middle fingers out to an inch from their elbow and that usually works best and never has a complaint

when I posted that I charge 25.00 per hour to assemble their parts they purchased and they never had considered everything it required to do the job and I would ask them what about the rest of the parts are like the winding checks, butt cap, glue, threads, finish, tape, hand tools, solvents, they would pitch a fit and say something totally stupid like don't you include that in your price? I simply

Dwight sorry should have mentioned this earlier in the discussion but some times crs gets the best of me now Your looking to make it as light as possible this is something I did and was great for saving weight on light rods for trout and panfish back in the 70's Fenwick had a rod they called a flea weight a super ultra light I improved on it I made a 1 1/2 ounce 4 ft ultra light just by u

I don't feel rained on or bad about it it has been that way for all of us from the beginning it just is at this point all I can do is laugh after of having it happen several times over the past 54 years of building. My best customers are the ones that have a brain when it comes to what the rod actually does it isn't just a show piece but above average functionality I have had them from all walk

I do not believe the blank would have any ill effects but as Michael stated rubber gets brittle meaning if I am understanding what he means the guide cushion rings could fail even if they are vinyl nylon, metal tends to move at different temps to hot expand cold shrink . I my self have guides fail in extreme cold but never in the heat. The polymer resin used now is cured with high heat and w

how many times do any of you experience the customer that wants a custom rod with a custom weave on it and several other things till you give them the price then it is alligator arms and deep pockets and they try to cut a deal for the build and that doesn't cover the parts!! let alone the time to do the weave!! I tell them to go to mudhole and buy the parts and glue, finish, threads and bring i

try the amber gorilla glue it is low expansion and can be sanded just wet the mating surfaces and apply a thin thin coat to each and clamp together and while still wet wipe of excess with a piece of cloth, joint will be almost seamless to the eye and with a light sanding you won't be able to tell

use rubber tube for temp mounting then place the rod in a holder that will cradle the front of the handle before the blank then run a line through and flex the rod with at least 5 pound weight look closely at the line lay and see where the flat spots are and then let up and move the guide forward or back ward that will eliminate line slap or reel over run resulting a birds nest then line should

I started at the tender age of 10 years old with my father and between him and all the other mentors I got acquainted with in this life journey I thank God I was able to meet so many good teachers and now at 64 years old I am always willing to help a fellow builder immerse him self in a good form of insanity. for those of you that are strong of heart try making your own bamboo blank and then buil

this is a reasonable priced blank and makes a good all around walleye rod if you want a 1 piece rod I have made 3 on this blank and 2 I kept at 7 ft. for and cut 6 off the butt end for the heavier jigs used with 4-6 inch plastic jerk minnow tails. good fishing

If you can get an old line winder from a sport shop for a few bucks you have the foot control and a reversible motor make your own chuck or chucks one for wrapping and another for turning and your good to go. even in my hey days of building I still preferred the control of hand wrapping as versed the power wrapper. for my power wrapper instead of using the plastic straw or tubes for wrapping I

I use disposable brushes when I can at the price for them you just toss them. For my art brushes when need to be cleaned and care for the art brushes, I went to the local pharmacy and asked the druggist for a couple of medium size pill containers with the reversible screw on tops and drilled a hole to hold the brush suspended in the solvent and use 3 types of solvents acetone, U40 cleaner and

I do agree that a trim on the tip is the easiest way to go and lot less risk of damaging the blank fibers the finish is only a few microns and wouldn't make any real noticeable difference. the action and stiffness of a blank is determined with the density of the cloth used on the mandrel to make the blank it is a dense tight weave cloth or an more open weave kind of like the way they do Egypti

I am guessing it is anodized an it is not close to the handle cork or synthetic grip Right ? if it is away from those I would just take some paper towel folded to a strip and soak it with acetone or lacquer thinner and let it work I use a cut out plastic 16 oz container to cover it as the evaporation of either is quite fast it contains the fumes and makes like a closed vapor environment and
