it comes down to it being a trend more than anything else as most boats come equipped with a lockable rod box and can fit a 6,6' or 7 ft rod easily and yes it has become a standard as some feel the joint is not as good as a 1 piece rod when it comes down to sensitivity but that is not true either their is no difference as the tech has cone a long way from solid glass rods

If anyone wants to know what it is used for in the manufacturing sector ST Croix could use it as an additive to their resin for blanks as it is a lamination process to make a blank from cloth fiber, or possibly as an extender in their gluing processes. Piccolastic™ hydrocarbon resins are homopolymers of purified styrene. They are low in color and are available in softening points ranging

the difference IMO is customers choice or builders choice as for weight it is so so minuscule you won't be able to tell Wrapping single vs dbl foot guides it is a wash as you put a locking wrap on single foot guides so your still doing 2 per guide. Finishing the rod I prefer to use light weight /thin coating and do some times apply as many as 3 coats. Weight reduction has gone to extreme s

they will work but the distance might be a bit impeded IMHO I would do a 6 or 7 because it is mono and it should cast well.

you also could go to a local thrift store or good will and pick up a rod for a couple bucks and cannibalize it for parts and the skip and screw

you might want to consider the weight of the plastics you intend to use on the jig heads when calculating the lure and line weight of blank you want choose to use.

I totally agree with TOM on this the one thing you should ask your self with all the production rods on the market available and would be easily shipped there WHY customs and only 24 of each did the request have any specifications for the type of rod wanted or was it just general request for rods ???

the connection knot to the backing of a fly line always presents a problem see as now the industry has added a loop end to most of the fly lines the connection can be made easily . with that said this is where personal preference comes in to joining the fly line to the backing. The albrite knot is a good strong knot but it is a bit bulky as are some of the others again it is your personal ch

if weight is a major concern you have a few options the guide placement you posted of 16, 12,10, 4 , 3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3, & tt is ok but you could trade out the 3 's for 2's and cut the barrel of the tip top down a bit the line flow will be unimpeded, your leader should never come through the tip top if so you leader is to long for your rod . Then wrap it with either silk or 00 nylon

sounds like you didn't make a good batch a bit shy on the hardener so I would remove it and do a new coat because it it is soft now and over coating it would affect the new coat as well

678. Re: Epoxy
in my years of using epoxies I have found that temp of 65 - 70 is prefect and medium to low humidity for curing. you can get a ceramic heater at the home improvement store and you have to remember that heat rises so heater on the floor and the project at the edge of the bench some guys have made a tent like enclosure around their work area out of a plastic tarp. it also helps with keeping the

Was always willing to help teach the art to another have had quite a few and had some that thought the cost was to much to invest in just the parts and then spend the time to do it lol Those that followed through are quite talented and have come a long way from their start .

are you using a brush to apply the finish ?? try a mix stick are you over mixing the finish?? sounds like it is soaking in to the thread and causing the bubbles are you sealing the wraps ?? with a color preserver or are you using ncp thread are you doing multiple coats of color preserver . ncp thread tends to create bubbles in the finish coat because there is a gap between the guide foot a

you can't get your car fixed because the mechanic just likes to do it don't be foolish and let the idea of doing a good deed and having incurring a tax burden to do so. The cost of the parts 50-100 % mark up remember the shipping costs is part of your mark up and labor minimum of 25.00 an hour very generous!! it is your time, talent and tools no matter what they are you still had to make t

even though there is a factory finish to the blank I would still take a scotch brite pad and lightly scuff it from bottom to top by doing that you might eliminate the scuffs you have if they aren't to deep and will give you a good bond with the perma gloss. all so I had mentioned this once before to hit the home improvement store and invest a couple of bucks in an artificial lambs wool floor fi

glass blanks come in several different colors red, 4 or more shades of green, 3 or more shades of blue, black ,white, translucent, 3 shades of pink and even purple they are mostly for Kidd rods or Ice fishing. all they do in the process is add a color pigment to the resin and you have a colored blank. you can tell most times by looking at the butt end of the blank .

assuming it is a casting rod ? and not a spinning rod your lay out will work just fine. but if it is a spinning rod I would use larger guides as the line paying off the spool needs to be tamed down to flow with out slap and diminished distance for a spinning I would do 50 or 40 , 30 or 25, 20, 16 12, then your 10's that will give you maximum distance for a cast . watch this it might hel

run your thread through a book and add more weight if needed to add more tension on the thread and then after you wrap you need to lightly burnish the threads with a plastic eating utensil or if you have a burnishing tool to close the gaps
