if the rod is 8 ft or less or a real stiff rod use 1 support at about 1/3 up from the butt should be supported enough to keep it level if the rod is a softer limber tip then use 2 set the tip one first then the center one till the sag is out of the blank apply the finish and a 9 rpm dryer is just fine the epoxy is self leveling and if you apply to much you will have problems with footballing

are you doing a restore or a rebuild ?? if it is a restore just put them where they were if it is a rebuild then I would say 5-7 guides dependent on what the load test would prove out. you want to remove as much of the sharp ark of the line between the guides there is where you add guides and re position them to get a smoother line lay when the rod is flexed

for the seat chip off the cork and heat it with a heat gun a little bit at a time as to not get it to hot checking if it is loosening the epoxy back then broke down easily with heat applied and you should be able to save the old seat components and clean them up and reuse them as they are original to the rod. As for the rest I will let the other Einstein's tell you how do do the rest as some

you can do what ever you want but if the blanks are fractured and the breaks are not clean breaks you will spend a lot of time fixing something that will eventually fail again I have to take Drew's side Even though Rodger and Norm have done repairs that did last by doing that you put a flat spot in the blank and to say that it wouldn't affect the rod just isn't correct any type of ferrule do

it can be fixed but it will greatly affect the action and power of the rod if it is a big $$ rod you might want to contact the company and see if the offer replacement sections for that model
