Went down to a local store in my neck of the woods yesterday CUT Rate Fishing Tackle A.K.A. Fishing Tackle Unlimited they had the blue blank in 2 piece that I was looking for. Not to mention, it only cost me $30.00. I just thought I would post this up after the two previous post. I ended up with an old All Star. It will work great! My Dad will love it!

I checked Batson....I found a Croix for $110, and checked Batson....Bastson doesn't seem to offer the dark blue in spinning blank that I would need.....I'd really like to give him, his first choice but $110 is steep....Let me know if anyone can help, if any resellers read this and you have what I need feel free to shoot me an email jwolfanger@

I have built and fished with several bumper spiral rods. I have noted that I am birdsnesting far less frequently than before. Has anyone else had this experience? It could be the new reel oil I am using. Either way I am a happier fisherman!!!

103. Re: Wrap Finish
I just tried threadmaster on my third rod, it is real real clear, and it goes on real smooth. I can only compare it to flex coat light, and it is much better IMO....I didn't try any others yet.

105. Re: Straight blanks?
For what it is worth...I was extremly disappointed when I realized how much of a curve was in my new loomis IMX. I read other posts on other sites about alot of people switching to Croix because of this. Sposedly the higher graphite curves more and has a greater chance of curving.....Fractltly, for $130.00 I think it should be straight as an arrow.
I just bought 4 batson (rainshadows) OG cl

I got the crazy notion to start building rods last October....I finished 2 so far...First thing I did was by the flexcoat video...Next, I went and got Rod Building Guide by Tom Kirkman....This gave me enough infomation to start asking questions.....I bugged a bunch of people here, I got hung up on "should I buy a powerwrapper or hand wrapper".....I went hand and I am happy....

I am looking to build a kingfish and snapper rod. The kingfish and snapper both will be fishing live and dead bait. I am new to rodbuilding and I have only built 2 inshore rods....I am unsure of the following:
*What would be the best material for it to be made out of?
*What pound class should they be?
*How long would be best I think 7'?
Thanks for all your help in advance.

I don't think I can you really tell....I just picked up a sj blank($130), and then compared it to a similar sj blank that was $12......I got to say I couldn't tell the difference. Keep in mind I've only built two rods....and am working on several others. I regret spending top $ now looking back.......I don't know maybe I don't have the skill or maybe like Tom K said there are a lot of good bla

Just curious if you have tried, seen, or just have an opinion on not puting on a forgrip. Seriously.....
I am making a new bumper spiral inshore rod and it ran into my head what if I didn't use a forgrip...
If you guys have any comments or experience in this I would appreciate it....Just something I thought I would toss out there for y'all to chew on....
Thanks for your help in advance!

The rest of this story proceeds he went back to the car and got another rod....My buddy I were laughing hysteracially, his amazement after horsing that thing like it was iron was something else. We didn't think he would make it back, he did 20 minutes latter. He proceeded to wade back out and in the process his do-net caught a rock and flipped his tackle went all over, he got back some plastics.
