32. Re: Blunders
I am having finish blunders as we speak. I am about to go back to a different product that seemed to work better for me. It's a learning process.

Well I will give you my thoughts, take them with a grain of salt as I have about 10 rod builds under my belt. I am currently building a rod ,it's a Lamiglas Certified Pro XSH 102 2 MT . I am building it specifically matched to a Daiwa BG 3000. So the Guide sizing is matched to that reel. But also, the color scheme of the rod I wanted to match the reel ,so I am putting on it Alps Y guides in titaniu

Actually a lot of cool history I am reading. Hardy tried it's hand with graphite fly rods in the late 60s. Shakespeare ,made some early prototype graphite rods early 70s, and Fenwick put them out on the market. They were susceptible to breakage, which led to Gary Loomis developing advanced techniques in blank making in the 1970s. It's really amazing actually. Necessity becomes the mother of invent

I miss typed that. Fenwick was the first to manufacture graphite rods on a grand scale with the HMG line. My bad.

Gary Loomis worked for Lamiglas in the 70s when he contacted Boeing and bugged them until a guy acquiesced and showed him about carbon fiber. Fenwick was the first to manufacture graphite rods,Gary perfected it,and left to form GLoomis ,right across the highway in Woodland WA. NFC is in Woodland as well. I'm just gonna blame Mr Loomis lol.
There I edited that !

David blue is my favorite color and I think all that cobalt will look obnoxiously good! I'm a SF Giants fan and it pains my that my favorite color is Dodger blue blech!! I already have an email in to utmost with a components list. That very alps seat is on that list.

Hey all. I am building a Rainshadow Eternity 2 (these blanks are stunning in person!) and I plan on using this for striped bass in the California delta. It's an 8 wt rod and I am putting a Galvan Grip 8 reel on it. I want to use an Alps triangle seat in blue and am confused as to sizes. Thanks in advance!

First rod I build was a mudhole kit. I still fish that rod every so often for white and spotted bass/trout. This board has been such an amazing resource. Get a subscription to Rodmaker magazine as well. Oh,and just a word of warning. This is extremely addictive! Good luck.-Robert

I had to repair one for a friend and used yellow thread,no CP and it came out damn near perfect! The yellow blended in with the blank to make a brown wrap.
