There is not set in stone spacing chart for the MicroWave 50 guide system. Because of the huge number of variables (line rating, lure rating, rod length, rod power, reels, etc.) we have been working on a range to help with placement of the last 3 guides. This will get you in a good spot to then do some test casting. From Your reel spool lip Stripping guide: 28-32" Transition guide:

It was our privilege at American Tackle to be able to host the very first Rod Building 101 class for Wounded Warrior Anglers of America. We had 13 Warriors come to the AT Headquarters in Oviedo Florida for a 3 day course. All had a great time and loved learning a new skill. I can see many of these guys taking their newly learned skill and making some beautiful sticks. It was great getting

Check out the American Tackle Bushido blanks..... they are a super tough, super reliable blank and feel amazing. For the small cranks I would look at the CB72/8-15 .... 7'2" that is rated for the 3/8-3/4 oz. lures For the 5 & 6 XD.... look at the CB72/12-25 .... 7'2" that is rated for 1/2-1 3/8 oz. or if you want something a little longer check out the CB78/10-20 rated at 3/

I think I will chime in on this one........ Like Tom said, you are more than welcome to throw the runners out or save them for something else.....(heck, send them to me I use them all the time on other builds). The majority of the cost of the set is the stripper and transition guides. Billy says they look funny.... I thought that when I first saw them and that was a huge reason I had to try

On the FST Bushido the +1 means telescopic..... on the GT popper it is a 2 piece blank, the ferrule is 31" from the butt so you can remove your handle assembly.

Had a great time in Winston Salem NC at the International Custom Rod Builders Expo. We held the first (of many to come) MicroWave rod contest. Attendees of the show brought rods by to be judged by other attendees. We had 26 entries and awarded the winner, Chris Richer, with a $500 gift certificate. It was a close contest with only one vote separating first, second and third places. Thank you for

ICRBE was a blast !!!!! Thank you Tom for putting on the largest gathering of rod builders on the planet. I really enjoyed seeing everyone again this year. It sure was different for me being a spectator all these year to now being on the vendor side. I think 90% of everyone wondered how I like Florida VS. Michigan...... If you didn't ask, I LOVE IT! This was also Jordan's first time attending

It is a HUGE misconception that the line comes off a casting reel straight. The microwave casting guides are a perfect hybrid between a traditional guide train and a micro guide train. This gives us the best of both worlds. A micro guide train can restrict distance by creating drastic angles from the spool to the first running guide. Let me explain that further, when the line leaves the sp

Hello Chuck... we would highly recommend looking at the Bushido CB78/10-20 or the BRAND NEW CB710/15-30 that was specifically designed for the big cranks including the DD22 and the 10XD.
