Hello Phil Spencer is right a 9''6 rod suits best for an all around rod here the only time i would go longer is with a centerpin rod and this rods primary use would be for floats and jigs with a spinning reel for smaller water .........i built a 11''6 last year and hated it..its amazing what a 2 foot will change for my personal use anyway to each there own i guess. that and i had a hard time land

for freshwater rods there is really no need for underwraps or protection however proper guide foot preperation makes it or brakes it.. what i usually do i keep a scrap blank on hand if the guide scrathes the blank then i go back and smooth things out ........tight wraps ...........Rob

your best bet would be to get some 1/4 inch round stock at a local hardware store... it will be alot easier plus its pretty cheap. dont use wax what i do i pull it out after im done glueing wipe clean then put it back in and turn it every now and then to make sure it is not sticking.......everyone has there own way of doing grips but i found this to be the best for me...............tight wraps..

hello bill i think id go with the med.power fast action that will just about cover the basics here it seems most of the guys like a 7 inch rear grip stays out of the way when casting alot i like the shorter grip myself also...

Bills right about the rec recoils check those out .. ive been toying with float rods ahwile now line stick will occur more then often in the winter with low frame guides if spaced out to far...........but with a rod that long guides shouldent be a big issue adding 1 or two more guides... its balancing that baby out id rather fish with a little heavier rod in the back then a tip heavy rod.....imo.

imo..... your spacing out to far a the end i would throw in at least two more guides to shorten the spacing out ........

no need to ruff the blank some reccomend a first coat of epoxy then apply others just apply and coat wich is what i do i apply the decal then two coats of epoxy i have never had one lift on me............everyone does it differnt though i would never rough the blank up though on certain rods you would see it through the decal..........
