scott i use graphite grit on my reamers its getting hard to find.... i know jann's netcraft has it buy some cheap cork for the handle... epoxy the length of your blank with something on the table to catch the grit let epoxy get just a little sticky and then sprinkle the grit on until covered while turning on the rod dryer dont be scared to use alot of epoxy so grit sets in good when dry yll have

it should be strictly the manufactuars problem now i have received a couple of crooked blanks this year on my main rod i build on for instance i got a 9ft 4wt looked like i had a fish on before the rod was built but there is no way my distributer would have ever caught that because top and bottom have rubber bands... i dident until i got it out. even if they did that then there would be another

toms absoultly right i just got done talking with my distributer and he said the same thing there is so many new items with rod building now. and are dealers have to have so much for an order that its almost imposible to keep everything in stock all the time. look at pac-bays line up for fly guides this year they got so many new guides the dealers cant keep up with them.. it is very frustrating

i agree with spencer many reels today are far advanced look at the shimano line also and diawa tough reels to beat i went through many reels now i only fish with the two up above shimano exp...i fish hard on the river in the winter and shimano has yet too fail me they dont freeze up like others also my stradics bullet proof wouldent trade it for the world.......

i think your more then right tom trying new things is always frustrating when it comes to a customers rod. need to trust what im doing key word. its a little differnt then the way i put the guides on before thanks tom. by the way wife says im to anul and i need to quit talking to myself and the kids think im going crazy hope i aint alone in that department either lol

hello all having a little trouble with guide placement on this one im building on a g.loomis 9''6 med.power with a fast action i kinda followed the stadic guide placement and ended up with eleven guides 12 with the tip does this seem right any help would be appreciated......

hello Bruce i do alot of smallmouth fishin up here in michigan as far as the river goes i like the7''6 med.lite with a fast action more then enough rod when drifting crawlers or leaches. when throwing rapalas the 6''6 scv has become my favorite. depending were your at the 7''6 will hold up to steelhead in the med.lite deppending on what kinda waters you guys fish myself i use 9ft and 9''6 drift r

if its a factory g.loomis i would send it in if you correct the problem on a factory rod it will void the warranty later. loomis has a good turn around time just a suggestion though..

graphite arbors shaped to fit with the cork a great amount of builders have done this to create better sensitivity to the rod. many sponsers on the side have these in stock i have done this before on smaller rods like my perch rods you can almost detect every little nibble.......just look for reel seat arbors

mitch the best thing you can do is use the pigments from enamel paints testors is used by many rod builders we use this to get a marble effect on the rods but you can also achieve what your wanting to do also tap pigment works good to..

ok guys as many rods i built i havent built many multie piece rods im building a 3 piece 8ft 4wt on my last guide i ended up on the back section is this normal or should it be up on the second piece i followed a similar guide placement to a 2 piece and was only off an inch behind the ferrull ??? any suggestions would be appreciated thanks in advance R.crabtree
