Hi everyone thanks for all the info but it doesn't answer the original question if a rod has 2 spines that seem to be 180° apart should I build on one of them or 90° off.

With this blank I think since I can't find a dominant spine I will just build it straight.

Thanks guys this rod will e used only for fishing in trout parks for stockers, so i guess i will build it on the straightest plane.

Thank you Tom, I am new and the video I have says to build on the spine. As your test said it doesn't matter how do you know which side to put the guides on.I would also like to say this forum has been very helpful.

220. 2 spines?
I ha e a Phenix blank FX761-1 and it seems to have 2 spines 180 apart. Have any of you seen this before and how did you solve this problem.

How do you get enough slack in thread to do a forhan locking. wrap If I pull enough thread to wrap to wind around the guide i lose tension on the spool.

Can anyone tell me how to do an optical chevron? Or recommend a good dvd on cross wraps I am a newbie and looking at pics will only get me so far.
