I agree with Tom seems as though builders are trying to talk themselves out of making money. I build most of my rods with MWGs and charge a premium for it. The way I see it is that these guides perform really well and I am happy to let my customers know that I am using the latest and greatest technology thats why they come to me. I keep up with developments in the industry and they pay a prem

I absolutley love mwgs have been using them since the week they hit the market have built well over 50 rods and have never heard a bad word from my customers commercially built rods using mwgs will add even more credibilty to an allready outstanding product. The trick certainly is letting people take the pepsi taste test it will close sales like you wouldnt believe. Id love to see titanium

Hi Everyone, I have a customer who is looking at getting a range of rods built and he wants them to have a stealth look I have reel seats sorted but he wants a matte finish on his guide wraps, I remember years ago a hot rod guy told me an easy way to obtain a satin/matte finish in gloss to spray it with hair spay when it got to the tacky stage before it fully flashes off, I gave it a try and

Does a builder with a dissability count? If so count me in I started building because I needed something I could do from home whilst recovering.

Well said Jerry, my biggest problem is others selling really cheap it brings the whole industry down. It not just rod building its most industrys now that match hobbies. I was a pro photographer for year before I got sick when digital became the norm every hobby guy instantly opened up a business, I would quote 3-5k for a wedding and seriously be competing with guys that had 10 minutes experience

Hi Guys, If your business is anything like mine then barely a day goes by where you don't get the "I'm really good and you need to sponsor me" email sitting in your inbox. I do sponsor a small team of anglers who compete regularly in competitions up and down the east coast but the competing side is not the most important thing to me when selecting who is going to rep my business

Hi, It's time to replace my reamers they have copped and absolute flogging over the last couple of months, usually I wrap engineers abrasive tape around an blank and they last a good while but I'm tossing up using the abrassive grit sold by mudhole epoxied onto the scrap blank the only thing I'm worried about is grit not holding well in the epoxy, I'm a little parranoid about epoxy heating up

I order a lot of stuff through them often something goes out of stock but they always email me and i swap it out Mudhole is excellent to deal with for both Bob and Brook to both jump on here and respond shows you just how well this company cares about the public image and how they go to great lengths to protect the mudhole image.

I to discuss every single detail I use an order sheet and then email them the sheet with all the details with my deposit requirements this keeps most expectations under control but not allways. I built a cod rod for a customer that owns a spinner bait company he wanted his logo on the rods so he sent it through when he received his rod I gave him all call to ensure it arrived all ok and he sai

I built 22 rods this month over 1/2 were mhx they are a very nice rod blank for the $$ and they make a nice bream stick the most popular are the 2-6 & 4-8 spins and the 6-12 casting. I have only ever had two issues both were corrected under warranty by Todd quickly and painlessly. Great blank for the price just remember to register them for warranty. I have a stack to register here tha

Im a small time builder now that its summer here Im averaging 20-25 rods a month which I can handle the only problem is shipping can compress time frames. I have only one customer that I build quantities of 15 at a time but generally I will do those in winter after the rush. I dont build on consignment I simply cant afford to do it however I do have a number of demo / personal rods that tur
