But will using White Vinyl mean I have a white background? I'd love to be able to print something onto a clear sticker so just the printing is visible, basically like the decals that come with the blanks you buy like MHX.

125. Peel and stick paper
I'm thinking of getting some of those clear sheets of peel and stick from decal connection. I have a reasonably good quality inkjet printer and was wondering if this is the way to go for printing small stickers with people's names etc on it?
If not should I get a dedicated label maker that can do this sort of stuff. If I do need a label maker and tips on which one would be great.
Thanks.

126. Re: FUGI guides
You could go the Titanium double foot K guides. That's what I had to do as I could not source the TSVSGs. I reckon they will work for your application. Not 100% on that but can't see why they wouldn't. I did see a sponsor on here had the SV style Fuji guides with Titanium frames but Gold Cermet rings instead of SIC.

127. Re: FUGI guides
Last time I checked mud hole may have had a few 20s as did Merrick tackle but not a full kit for spinning so the smaller sizes may be an issue. I had to get the K series instead in Titanium.

128. Urethane over epoxy
Just wondering if putting a coat of say Bullards CPXtra over a finished rod will help protect the epoxy that is used on the threads from scratches? I've read how Pro Cote is a great finish but soft and vulnerable to the odd scratch so was wondering if a final coat of the Urethane would help. I have a couple of blanks that are naked graphite so was considering giving them a polished finish look wi

129. Re: 2 spines?
Tom based on your response above wouldn't it be prudent to build on the spine with the maximum amount of material on the compression side to give it the least chance of breaking under load?

130. Re: ALPS
The new Altex ones are awesome. They only come in size 14 though. There are quite a lot of reels that will fit that though. I have not weighed one but believe they are lighter than the standard ALT or DALT.

According to the link and the Phenix website the M1 are only available as built rods. Is this correct?
Thanks.

133. Re: Loomis info
I have a couple of Loomis blanks on me. Makes me think I should keep them for a while and maybe they'll go up in value lol!
Didn't think of it until I had already started building a couple and now the glue is dry. I still have a couple of bare blanks though.

134. Re: SEARBS meet
All good Col, I live way up in Cairns so do most of my research on how to do stuff online. Not as good as what you guys would get up to but there is still a lot of helpful stuff on the web.

What does SEARBS stand for? South East Australia Rod Building
Society? Mark sent me some red grain grips for free for a rod I was getting built. It was one of the things that led me to eventually doing my own. I'm now well and truly hooked!

You could try the Black Hole Cape Cod Special 250 G as it could handle jigs down to that weight and is a phenomenally strong rod. Others to think about are the Jigging Master Three Kings Special and the Synit Deep Shot and the new Synit Kaha range.
I've built a couple of these now and love them.

138. Pro Paste
Hello all.
What are people's thoughts on both the fast set and normal Pro Paste?
How does it compare to Araldite? Is the quick set stuff really as strong as the standard?
Thanks, Mark.

139. Woven tubing
Hello all.
Does anybody know where to buy some Texalium or similar colored woven tubes in a small diameter? I am after a few colours and around the 0.5" thickness. It seems most places sell them for handles so seem a bit thicker. I was looking at using them for split grips to fit a little closer to the blank for a better finished look.
Thanks.

I'll have to look into those Billy, thanks for the heads up. I definitely have to get some of those EVA grips off you one day. They are brilliant.

Thanks Billy. Looks like Muehole does not sell the TNSGs you mentioned. I didn't know they existed. You wouldn't happen to know the weights of the TSVSG and TNSGs by any chance?
I'm challenging myself to get this build under 200 grams (7 ounces) without compromising on the build.

I've just ordered some Jigging master blanks and want to make an ultralight spin rod on one of them. The plan was to use a size 25 or 30 stripper in ICMNSG or some other Titanium framed Fuji guide then go down to the Fuji TLNSG light frame Titanium guides. 16 is the biggest they make hence the use of the different stripper to start.
The rod is the Jigging Master Three Kings Special in the UL and

Col do you reckon the TFST tip would be strong enough or should I go for the TMNST?

144. Re: Personal rod
The reel has 5 kilos out of the box. I was thinking about 3 kilos max myself (mostly 2) but would thumb the odd fish with a low rod angle at times to stop a big Jack or Barra if I had too.
Have you had the chance too see an Ultra MBX by any chance?

I assume no underbinding as well? The guides were going to be TLNSG double foot since it is on the heavy side line wise.I was thinking just but never done it with double feet.

146. Re: Personal rod
Strewth Col! I just checked my Curado 200 and It looks like a size 3 or 4. From what you are saying though I could go an 8 to start with and 6's the rest? Is there that much of a weight saving between an 8 and a 6 Titanium guide? Just seems a bit weird from all the Baitcasters I've seen even at these sizes.

147. Personal rod
Hi all.
I want to build myself a good quality baitcaster, open budget so I can see wht's out here. I plan to buy through a sponsor here, Mudhole so everything must be in their range.
Fishing will be for Barramundi in Far North Queensland so I need a short fast action Mag Bass style rod that has some grunt to handle 20lb braid. Length is elected to be 6'2" but will take 6' if the blank suit

If you can't there is an SCIII very close to that which is probably better as well. The 3C76MHMF. Mud hole sells them.
