No worries for me! I live in Far North Queensland. It's hot as Hades here right now!

I've always looked at it from the other way around. To me it's not the issue of the guides grooving but the abrasiveness of the guide ring wearing the line. In situations using heavy drag the braid can get damaged over time and lose some of its strength. It will result in having to change line more regularly if a guide ring was used that wasn't as hard/smooth as say SIC for example.

Can anyone provide details on the difference between the metallic and metallic P? Also is the Kaleidescope thread very similar to the Gudebrod
Electra braid?

Either Fuji BMNAG or MNSG will be fine for this application. If you did go with the Alconites maybe a SIC tip should still be used.

Jim how do we get a hold of the Torzites? I'm very keen to use some on a personal build.

From what I read they are taking advantage of the properties to reduce the amount of material used for the ring to end up with similar properties in some areas to what SIC offers. One area that remains well in front is the abrasive properties and if you're happy with the other rings you use then that is fine. Apart from this part, the major plus I see with these guides due to their approach in th

Sure is. I've built a few of the single piece 250 gram Cape Cod Specials and they are a good rod. The two piece 80, 150 and 250 Cape Cod Specials are shorter but will still be quite a good option for what you want to do. Email me if you like.

Black hole do a couple of ranges of two piece jigging blanks. They are pretty short and specifically for taking on planes.

I only just saw the link to this information on these. They sounds very interesting indeed.
Has anybody seen any yet?

Roger thanks so much for taking the time to find that out. I really appreciate it. I didn't want to put that small a seat on but that was the biggest in that style. I guess I just have to find another style!

103. Reel seat question
Hello all.
I'm looking to build a rod with an alloy reel seat size 16. The reel will be a Daiwa Saltist 35 Hyper speed. Unfortunately I have neither the seat or reel to check if the reel will fit. Hs anybody got a size 16 seat they could check against a 35 sized Daiwa reel?
For this type of seat size 16 is the largest available hence the question. Otherwise I would have went an 18 or 20 and be

I would love to experience that! The stuff dreams are made of.
I think a metal seat would work but another option is to use an upgraded metal hood on the graphite seat.

Mel is this going to be a Black Hole? The Giant blank might be better for this application.
In any event due to the gap between an Aliminium seat and the blank should mean the small amount of flex will be buffered by the Arbor.
Just a thought.

I have some Gudebrod Electra braid in Royal Blue and Red. I love the stuff and was wondering if there is anything else like the Electra braid on the market as I'm keen to get some other colours. I have some Prowrap metallic which is good but if anyone knows of anything close to the Electra braid it would be great to know.
Thanks, Mark.

You will find most high level factory rods for this type of work use MNSGs as they are considered stronger than the K series. This came up recently on another forum and at least one rep from a highly regarded company said they do this and only use K guides in the lighter line classes.

I've built a few. The 250 is extremely powerful so unless the customer is after very big fish or using very heavy drag to immediately stop fish from getting back into cover, the 250 will do. It's much softer than the 350, is fully parabolic and bends all the way into the foregrip(which feels a bit weird until you get used to it) and will still be able to take jigs to say 400 grams, which is the o

Billy I live in Cairns in Far North Queensland and it is around 1700 kilometres to Brisbane still in Queensland and another 920 km to Sydney. Huge distances just between capital cities so it makes it very hard for these types of interstate things.
Too far for me to get there!
Good luck at the gathering guys.

After seeing a recent thread I took a look at the Dblue site and was quite impressed with the prices.
I'm wondering how strong the following guides are compared to the Fuji TLNSG and how they stack up.
XBTSG and DBSG-C1. To me the XBTSG are the better option as they are ring locked but would like some feedback there as well.
I was also looking at the spin guides, the TI-SIC XT as they look s

They're pretty good mate. I couldn't tell the difference between the NV7 and the premium SP 442-A. Mind you I was very impressed with the Phenix although I did not fish it. I was making one for myself but ended up selling it. I would actually get one of those again before anything else.

115. Re: Barra rod
I've fished a lot for Barra and usually use 5'6" rods to close to it. That's due to some of the tight spots you can get into casting. Having said that, 6 foot to 6 foot 3 is better if overhanging trees etc. aren't a problem.
The MHX MB 784 is a good option and the Phenix ultra MBX UMBX 606H is a sweet blank. The Samurai NV7 is a great Barra blank and the United Composites range is also very

I think the best bet is to not use EVA or anything "spongy" or flexible at all. Since a hard coating with thread will go over the top it also makes it redundant. A hard tube would be the best bet. Maybe some wide diameter carbon tube?

Is anybody able to let us know where we might be able to pick up some of the Electrabraid? I am specifically after red and royal blue. I've not seen anything else like this in another brand but if there is it would be good to know since it looks like I can't get any more. While I'm at it if the Electra thread is also available I would be keen on that too.
Thanks.

Yes you could use a CF tube as above or Texalium. I recently did one and actually used thread in the exposed area with the usual epoxy coatings for something different. It worked a treat and gave a fairly unique look. It was not much to build up the other areas of the seat with a bit of tape to get a good hold using.
