I've not used one, but for cutting done masking tape to 1/8" or narrower stripes come to mind for attaching guides to rod blanks.

There was some complaining before about Batson's website and the ease of use.
Well, now is the time to give praise for the good work and the integration that has come about. The use of tying the rod building list and guide spacing to be interactive with the blank selection and then creating a wishlist is a very nice feature and well thought out.
Nice Going and Keep Improving!

I can't say that Bill was yelling, but his caps button was pushed.

Start the tie off and work your way to the end. After you have it started increase the thread tension every 5 turns or so. Once you have it secured (for me I like about 1/4" ) then I will cut the threads at an angle starting near the tie off thread and increasing the cut off threads in length. This will provide a smoother transition for the tie off thread. After cutting the threads and b

It could be inadequate drying of the CP. You didn't say how long you let the CP dry nor how many coat you do.
For me I do three coats of CP with about two hours dry time between 1 and 2 and then 2 and 3, then after the last coat I let it dry over night.

I think a picture of your problem would really help us understand what might be happening. Is that possible?

St Croix has some SCII blanks that are shorter than what your looking for, but there are in three pieces.

I forgot to mention that the line will be 8# braid.
I do have a rod that I made with a two guide KL-H set up that has a 500 series reel, but has 4# braid. I could string up some line on the 1000 and put onto my rod and give it a shot. I should have thought of this before.
Thanks Jim for getting back to me. I'll let you know if the set-up works.

Just to double check my work.
I'm using a Shimona 1000FD and the measurements are
A = 82.6 mm
B = 74.6 mm
C = 94.5 mm
I'm thinking of using the following guides with these distances from the spindle end.
KL10H = 18"
KL5.5M = 22.83"
choke point = 27.87"
followed by 4.5 micros
I know this set-up doesn't have a guide from the "stripper group" or one from th

Here is my guide placement using a small 500 series Shimano on a 7" ultra light. I hope this helps. The reductin train was taken directly from using the GPS software on Anglers Resource's website and it works beautifully.

I haven't try these, but they are American made and they are new to the market. Take a look at the Liberty brand put out by Get Bit Outdoors. They are a sponsor on the left side. Like I said, they are new and I haven't tried them yet. I posted a short while ago asking others what they thought.

I wish I new about that before I cut mine.
How do I order a new diaphragm John?
I also fine that when I use it with EVA Foam that the foam gets deformed from the pressure exerted by the diaphragm. Has anyone else had this problem?
Nice video!

113. Liberty Blanks
I was wondering if anyone has purchased any of the new blanks that Get Bit is selling under their Liberty brand. I'm looking for your thoughts on the quality and how they might compare to other popular brands that we all know.
Thanks

There are many videos on-line that you can view. Some of them are even sponsored by some of the suppliers located on the left hand side of this screen. My suggestions would be to view as many of those as possible and practice and practice and practice... The next thing is to maybe sign up for a rod building class that might be in your area or check with some of the community activities that mi

Just because Carbon 2 and Carbon 4 might be similar to St. Croix SCII and St. Croix SCIV respectively, doesn't make them the same rod blank. Just like many companies that offer their products as their own and then sell similar products as private label, but that does not make them the same product. I'm not saying they are different and I'm also not saying they are the same rods between the two.

One thing that I shoot for in a light is trying to match daylight or 5000K if possible. This will get you the best chance at seeing the colors as if they were viewed in nature daylight. If the output is under 5000K the light color will appear yellow and if it is more than 5000K the color will appear more blue.

I've always add a little CP to the edges just to make sure I don't get any seepage of the epoxy. I'm sure others have had good luck without it. I figure this is about the last step or very close to it so why take chances.
