I bought a Tsunami slow pitch acid wrapped rod that is giving me a problem. The line often gets wrapped around the tip. Anyway I want to rewrap the rod into the conventional straight guide format. The only issue is that I`m having trouble finding the spine of the rod. I don`t know if the true spine was established on this store bought rod at all.

The room temperature was 71 degrees. I mixed the 2 parts for 2 minutes. Probably mixture was off a tad. Made thousands of wraps in the past, Maybe just a senior moment on the mix,but will it eventually dry?

I don`t know what went wrong but the guide wraps on a new rod are a bit tacky. I flex coated the wraps twice and the result is the same . I felt a new coat would remedy the problem but it didn`t, At this point I`m considering rewrapping the guides and starting over. What do you think?

If the rear grip is past where you want it to be you can build up the desired area with masking tape and epoxy the grip there. If the rear grip didn`t reach the desired area try twisting the grip to back it up the blank. Then put some elmers glue higher than the desired area to act as a lubricant ,epoxy the desired area and slide the grip to the desired area in one motion.

I made a custom bluefish rod last year out of a Lamiglas mb fiberglass rod for a client . Last week he brings it to me warped rather severely in the upper 9 inches of the rod.He said he keeps it stored straight in his closet and doesn`t know how it happened.Whatever!!!.I called Lamiglas about their warranty and they said the damage was due to user neglect and the rod wouldn`t be covered. Is there

I recently made a rod that has a reel seat that is 1/4" off line with the guides.(I must have been tired).It1s a graphite reel seat. If I can loosen the adhesive with a heat gun and straighten it out, will the adhesive rebond securely. I1m trying to get away with losing the seat and rear grip.

Lamiglas mb 84-2f-h is what I`ve been using for years in the western sound. It handled 10lb`ers without an issue.

Some one gave me a two piece surf rod that broke at the male insert ferrule.I need to make some kind of attachment to insert inside the butt end of the rod to also fit in the top end .Would a wooden dowel make a good male ferrule?I can glue it in the bottom half and shape it to fit in the top half.

I just tried placing an order on Mudhole.I was looking to buy guides BHNLG. The gentleman told me that Fuji is discontinuing their hardloy guides and he only has a few left. I don`t think this is true. Fuji hardloy guides have been around as long as I can remember. Their guides are used on many factory rods and haven`t given me any trouble throughout the years. Hardloy is a better grade of alumin

I don`t know if you spined the rod before the build but if you did it will now be off that same 30 deg.It wll effect the torque, especially if it`s a one piece rod

I`m looking for white fiberglass rod blanks in 7` lengths similar to the lamiglas mooch bait series. I can`t seem to locate similar blanks anywhere. I`m looking for moderate action on the blank.

I`ve used flexcoat with no problem for many years.Recently I noticed the resin part came out of a half empty 16 oz. bottle somewhat cloudy. When I mixed it with the hardener it was rather milky looking. I mixed it well and thought nothing of it. It was also milky when I applied it to the rod. After 6 hours on the rod dryer it was still tacky.I never had this problem before. The first half of the 3

I decided to convert an old Garcia colonon rod with a detachable wood butt into a 1 piece rod.I would rather use something stronger than just the new graphite reel seat to join the rod with the new eva grip extension I`m adding to the rod.I want to keep it as lightweight and as strong as possible. What`s the bet way to do this?

It is a commercial rear grip and there are gaps between some of the rings. I want to remedy the situation before the rings start to separate.I need a glue that will dry clear and not leave too much of a shine.

I was given a rod to fix that had a chewed up cork forward grip.Other than taking off all the guides to replace the grip,I tried slicing a new cork forgrip and slipping it over the rod blank where the old grip was removed.I glued the grip to the blank but now I have a seam to deal with.Should I put cork dust in the seam and how do I glue the dust without making it look too obvious?

I made a cork reamer by glueing sand paper on an old rod blank. Now I`m thinking of putting it in my power wrapper and using it to ream the holes out of my cork/eva grips. Has anyone ever successfully done this?

I just finished building 3 eight foot rod for use on party boats fishing for cod. I used Gator glass blanks .Upon checking the flexability of the rods I heard a cracking sound at 6 of the guides on each rod. I thought it was the epoxy "breaking in" but the sound wouldn`t go away or dissapate after flexing the rod for 15 minutes.I made 6 rods like this last winter using the same blanks a

I heat up the thread around the guide foot with a flame from a match or cigarette lighter. Using a utility knife,I cut this heated thread off the guide foot. Grab the loose end of the cut thread and unwind it until all the wrap is off. When the thread if off remove any high spots of epoxy and go over with a sotch pad if necessary.

Silly question or not, I had the same problem when I firstgot a power wrapper.. I would wrap all of my two footed guides on one side and then flip the wrapper and rod on the other side to do the other foot of the guide.I even tried to reverse the turning direction of the wrapper motor. I posted my dilemma on the discussion board from a different website and got some advice and some deroggatory co

I recently bought a Pac Bay vented 18mm spinning reel seat and was very impressed with the beauty and light weight of it. I didn`t realize that because of the rosewood insert the I.D.was only a little over 1/2". Of course this won`t fit over the s glass Lami I wanted to use it on. I don`t know whether I want to chance reaming the hole in the rosewood or buying a thinner blank. Has anyone suc

Try putting the flamefrom a cigarette lighter on a small area of the blank to get peeling started Use a utility knie to get under the heated varnish and peel off the varnish Once started you can peel the whole rod, using a little heat in stubborn areas. It`s going to take a bit of time but can be done.
