I have to repair a 2 piece rod that`s detachable butt disappeared.I want to make it a one piece rod by putting a butt extension on it. I was thinking of putting an eva rear grip on a piece of rod blank and gluing this and the top of the rod into a graphite reel seat. Will this be strong enough to handle the reel and bring in fish? The rod is a medium heavy action saltwater rod meant for bluefish

I have 2 friends that want their old rods dolled up but want to keep their two-pieced chrome reel seats on the polls. Even though the seats look in new condition I can`t seem to seperate them. I`ve tried WD40 and even tried heating them up with no luck. Is there any way to seperate the two halves without destroying the seat?

A friend of mine wants an old solid glass rod with a detachable wood butt converted to a 1 piece rod of the same length. When the rod is separated at the metal ferrule the male end only protrudes about 3 inches. Is it possible to extend the end of the rod to attach a reel seat and butt grip to it?It has to be very secure.

After my first coat of finish dries I feel the wraps for any "bumps". If there are any I lightly snad them to a smooth surface and then add another coat of finish.Always worked for me .

Try using a scotch pad abrasive to remove the epoxy. They are sold in different abrasions in Home Depot. These pads have multiple uses such as cleaning cork grips and removing scuff marks on boats.

Actually, I was trying to glue a dried real fish skin on the blank. The large scales prevented the skin from rolling around the blank. I used 3M spray glue as an adhesive without success. Pictures and decals are nice but I want a more natural look. Mudhole sell dried snakeskins by the inch so I thought of doing something with actual fish skins.thanks.
