Anyone had issues with Braid and Wind Knots. I filled my reel with 10# Power Pro Super Slick and was throwing a 1/4 oz jig heads w/ 3'' Gulp Shrimp and had to go to a rod with heavier line to stop the knots. Diff rod was not MicroWave so I am not sure if it was the line or the guide that caused the problem. Anyone else use light braid on their Microwave?

Here is a question for all you wood turners. I am refinishing and vintage boat rod to be sold at an upcoming Rotary Charity event. I am not going old school with the wraps and have decided to some metallic underwraps w/ black overwrap and use epoxy to finish as opposed to heavy thread and varnish. With that in mind how would you finish the wood rear grip? all sugestions welcome. Thank you to al

Thanks George, That is the wrapper I bought. Now I just need to see how the thread is wound through the carriage. Which direction does it go around the tensioner, does it go through both of the small thread guides or just one depending on where the spool is located. If someone could send me a photo of theirs loaded with thread that would really help. Thanks again everyone.

Hello all, Can someone please post or email a picture of how the thread carriage on the Forecast Power Wrapper should look. I have never used a power wrapper before or the type of tension device that is on this machine and need a visual aid to make sure i have it working correctly. Thank you and Props to Kevin at Get Bit for the sweet deal. You Rock!!

Hi Billy, Perhaps if it doesnt take up too much room with the wider track, 3 sliding doors that way you can have two thirds open to aid with the long rods? assuming you are using plexiglass doors that should only require an extra half inch in depth. Good Luck on getting your shop back together.

Bill, i started to take offense at your last comment about '' thinking a poster knows what they are looking at''. I refrained from commenting back until i returned home to prove i KNEW what i was looking at.............. My apologies! This ''poster'' ( i prefer newbie) doesn't know what i am looking at. Upon removal of the guide it is exactly as Mr. Danku describes,. Sure didn't look like th

I do that for the current style guides. Such as size 6 fuji fly guides. But these old school guides i know i wont use very often, i dont want to hold on to them forever. I did find a close match in my pile of old rods, the only problem is its a black frame and not chrome. will work in a pinch i am sure. Thanks for the feed back Mr. Boettcher.

Mr. Ruwe. it appears i need a 12mm. The ring is gone but the frame (broken) is still there. I bent it back to round and it measures 12mm. I am new to this game and don't have lot of old style guides. I don't stock anything, i just order what i need. I am trying to track down the right guide and get a price so i can let the customer decide if he wants a matching guide or anything i have layin

Thanks Roger, I was already to order 16, 10, 6'(2), to the tip, now you got me guessing again. Rod will be 5'-6'' long. Possible trigger spin reel option so i was leading toward the smaller butt guide. My initial static test put the Butt at 17'' from reel as you suggest. Guide choice is Minima 3. Your thoughts? Hello All, Thanks for the Great comments. My comments concerning the image lifting on DC peel and stick was about making my own inkjet decals on DC peel n stick media. My issues with waterslide have been everything from the decal folding in half, smearing the image with my fingers trying to get it off the backing, the image cracking under the Krylon clear when the decal rolls up in the

I am looking for a little feedback about Peel n Stick VS Waterslide decals. I have attempted a few waterslide decals on clear and white media with ''Very Little'' success. On my last project i attempted no less than 5 times with white and 2 times with clear and once i thought i had it right, once epoxied it looks like poo ! I want to try the Inkjet Peel n Stick from DC but i am curious if a

Bob, I am a computer draftsman by day and have always used Dell at my office for my workstations and field laptops. Probably 4 or 6 in the last 15years. You can't go wrong with Dell exspecially if you ''build your own'' to get the features you require such as additoinal Ram and Upgraded video card etc. I also have had good lock lately at my home with the HP G series lap tops. I currently have th

David, I was thinking of a 5'' rear grip and a 2'' foregrip, blue and orange and pink and white. i could use black and trim it with the colors, larger bore on the colors wouldn't matter then. How much do you have? My email is unhidden if you would like to talk off forum. Billy, Great to see you back on the forum. I will see what i can find here but will contact you after the first of the yea

Roger, I am a hobby builder. Work a 40+ hr week at my job and only spend a couple hours a week on rods. Sat morning mostly. It takes me months to finish a rod. Plus i am off for a week to mexico for my nieces wedding starting the 8th. Too much pressure to get them done. Besides that i will probabyl have 10 hours in the grips alone. Most of it staring at the bench wondering what to do next, but

Thanks Ray, I have secured some short fiberglass blanks and currently on the search for some inexpensive spinning reel seats. I plan on using Minima guides as well. The grips are my favorite part of rod building so i plan to do some stuff w/ bright colored eva. Simple wraps and a decal with the kids names. Regards JS
