FYI dont mix up the caps on your rod bond!!!! Grabbed the jars to do a quick repair and couldn't figure how the lids got so tightly closed i couldn't open them. I even labeled the tops so i wouldn't get confused. Rookie mistake.

I don't want to hijack thread. I have removed everything but the rear grip on my repair. Jon is the one asking for input on repairing the loose real seat hood. Please focus on his question. JS

Jon, I have one with the same problem, i decided to tear it down and found that the front hood was a seperate piece (split seat) and was glued solid to the arbor but the arbor was spining on the blank. The center cork was also spinning, I am replacing all of the guides on mine and will be regluing the seat on new arbors. I mention this just as a FYI that it may be more than just the hood. Good

Mr. Paulino, I looked for you email but it was hidden. I posted some questions about graphic software to make decals a week or so ago, you responded that you use Corel. Being a huge fan of your work i immediatly purchased CorelDraw x5. I have been messing with it for a couple days now and it will be great once i get up to speed. If you wouldn't mind emailing me-My address is unhidden- i have

Thanks for the response Jim, I know what you mean about industry standard, i use autocad on a daily basis but hate how complicated the program is. There are so many other softwares that are more user friendly. Autocad is the one everyone uses and if you want to share files easily you have to use it also. I also think an aritcle in RodMaker describing the basics and defining the process of d

Thank you everyone for the response. I will look into all of the items mentioned. Nuno, thanks for your response also, i was wondering what you used to do your stuff. The mechanical fish graphic in Rodmaker was amazing. I can only wish to do something like that. I will check to see what the student version of corel costs, i have a daughter who is a senior in HS. Time to pick up the yard so

Thanks Mark. I looked at indesign-i think its too much for what i need and out of my budget. Photo impact is affordable but will it do text with font outlining? i will look at a little closer. Corel draw is also out of my price range. More suggestions appreciated.

Need a little guidance. I am looking for a user friendly graphics program to make my own decal designs. I have searched the forum and picked up on the Gimp program. I must say very comprehensive for a shareware program but not user friendly at all. I am somewhat computer literate (autocad user) but can't get my head around the Gimp. Is there any other - low cost - software any of you might sugges

Thanks for the info guys. Epoxy was Flexcoat High build. Plan on trying Prokote on the new one. It was odd to me that only one wrap faded, the one i replaced. The factory wraps were ok.(different color of blue=first rod i worked on and didn't care if it matched perfectly) I think i will not do my overwraps with metallic on the new rod and go with ncp instead. Too much work to have it fade in

I had the opportunity to head offshore this weekend for some Red Snapper & Grouper fishing. Along with the usual suspects in offshore rods i brought my 6500 Baitrunner spinner rig to float livies of the back in hopes of a tuna or dolphin. None of that happened but i was happy to use the equipment...anyway on the way back i noticed that the underwrapof one of the guides i had replaced on the s

I just did a search of the St Croix website and am coming up with the same conclusion that it is a custom. There is no decal or serial number. It needs 2 new guides and the seat reglued. only hassle is pulling all the guides to redo the seat. I will not bother to contact them. Jim do you happen to know the thread color on the Tidemaster Series? Thanks JS

Thanks for reply William & Jim. Trying to find out if the rod with the REC guides was a factory build or a custom kit before i contact manufacturer. Its in pretty bad shape but if it is covered that would be great. If noone has seen a factory Croix with REC guides i will assume its a custom kit and just pull it apart and repair it. There is no decal on the blank except for a remnant of a dec

Hello Rod Genies. I have a couple St Croix factory rods to do guide and tip repair. Plus one major repair. First Question: Factory Thread Color on the Tidemaster (TS80MF) series. It appears dark green until i peel it back and its almost mint green on the underside. Must have not had cp on it. Looking for a close match. I know i can contact St. croix just trying to get a faster reponse, trying

Russell, Look forward to hearing the ''rest of the story...'' I took a look at the link you added and was suprised to see it was from the Sarasota Herald. I read the article but then spent the next hour scanning the paper. The only problem is that paper was written 8 years before i was born and 17 years before i moved to florida. Other than a Publix ad i was unable to locate a business that i r

Russ, Checked out the TriFlex. Seems to fit the bill. I would love to be in the 50 range and not the 100. But i am sure you get what you pay for. I absolutly need a tough blank. I am not the easiest on fishing gear. I composit or all glass is the only way to go. Thanks for feedback.
