Thanks Ryan, that is where i clipped the picture. if you use the drop down menu's and choose the titanium / gold option the next menu down only gives you a choice of 6 for a ring size. and a tube size on the next menu is only 10 i believe. The documents says they have the right sizes. None suppliers i checked carry the top in big enough sizes.

Thank you for the responses so far. Someone made it. I am assuming it was batson since the broken tips look exactly like the attached picture. It may be a discontinured size or a one off for the manufacturer of the rods, Which is a Quantum Blue Runner #bssu5950 5'9'' 40-60#. I need two tip tops of the size stated above. I have searched PacBay, AT,Kigan, & Batson. I was hoping someo

I will look into a heat gun. I used the stick lighters before i bought the alcohol blaster. they tend to put soot into the epoxy if you are not extremely careful. Fingertips are gonna be ok. Feels like a sunburn, but not blistered. On the bright side, i finished the rod today and tomorrow i will go out and try to learn to cast a fly rod. yipee!

Good Morning all, a little warning for those who use alcohol bubble blasters. While flaming wraps with my bubble blaster (little plastic squeeze bottle w/ a brass nozzle & wick) i nearly burned down the house. Evidently the seal at the top of the bottle wasn't tight enough and vapors leaked around the cap. Sides of bottle caught on fire while in my hand. burnt my finger tips but was able

Go to your local Custom Cabinet shop and they can order you sheet formica for your own countertop build or build one for you. Be prepared, sheet formica is not cheap. If your going buy a finished counter put some money in the local small business guys pocket and not the big box. Just my 2c

Herb, Blank is a Batson F909 2pc. I am not sure if it requires a wrap or not. Maybe i will contact Batson. Roger, i like that idea but in the other direction, perhaps move the guide 1/2'' to 3/4'' to get it away from the ferrul. Ron, The blank is a deep blue and i am using a blue nylon thread without CP for all wraps. going for the invisible look. Unless i hear a reason to change my mind

Hello all, I am looking for a litte input. Working on my first fly rod build. after working out guide placement i have a guide (snake) an inch & quarter from the end of the ferrul. Would ya'll suggest one wrap for the ferrel and guide foot or two small wraps? I think that one wrap will be bulky looking but if i wrap two small wraps they will only be 3/8 to 1/2'' apart. On a side note how lo

I posted a while back about wind knots and micowave guides. I was using 10# power pro super slick 8. I was blaming the guides until i changed to regular Power Pro 10# and no more wind knots. I can't explain why it was happening with the other line i can only tell you that now my MW rig is my favorite to stick for Redfish. JS

Thank you for the replies. I think the Minima's may be the answer, double swagged so the ring cant come loose and very affordable that if he doesn't like them i can swap them out for the RingLocks as Wes mentioned, which by the way are my go to TT. I have six rods to repair so i will do 2 recoils, 2 ring locks, and 2 Minima's. And see what happens.

Hello Forum, Quick question for those more experienced than myself. i just recieved 6 St Croix Legend Inshore rods to replace tip tops. Guide loves the recoil guides because they are bullet proof. I see that Recoil makes a tip top. My question is will the tip top stand up to redfish and snook on braid. I have read the stories of recoils grooving but my guide is tired of his charters

i only belong to a couple forums so my experience is limited, But i must say i prefer the way RBO works over the other format mentioned. I log on to RBO every morning and read all of the topics marked with the red NEW. I tried to set my other forum to notify me if someone comments on my posts and it is not available. Just my 2c why i think RBO is the best!

The rod in question is a 8' Deluxe 30 Star Rod for Tarpon (actually gator snatching). it is plenty stout to handle a little cantilever on one end or the other. and there is only one underwrap and guide that requires the reverse installation. Thanks again everyone for all of the input.

Thanks everyone for the help. Like Chuck says sometimes the best solution is the easiest. I never thought about turning the thing around, thanks Tom. How would you reinforce the tip (12.5) to fit in the chuck. wrap some tape and put a cork ring over it? Thanks again for all of the replies. All great ideas.

Hello Gal's & Gents, This hopefully is a stupid question and y'all have a quick remedy. I am currently replacing the guides on an 8' Star Rod. I have a forecast power wrapper with an 8' base (standard chuck). When mounted the tip of the rod is 8'' past the end of the wrapper. Aside from buying a track extension and new support what tricks are there for wrapping the tip and first guide. I use

Its not about the Recognition its about the warm and fuzzy you get from helping out the cause. I donate a rod to my Rotary Club fishing tournament silent @#$%& every year. This year was a vintage offshore rod that i refurbished from the handle to the tip. I had over 30hrs in the job. The rod was paired with a 12/0 penn. i went for over $400. I was tickled pink we raised that much money for the ch

Jon, Citri-strip is a mild citrus based paint stripper that can be found at most hardware stores. i have stripped a half dozen rods and it works great. i then leave the graphite unfinished and rewrap. Do a search for painting blanks as Bill mentioned and you will get a ton of information. As for my experience i can't master the lumiseal or permagloss over paint, its not easy. Good Luck JSco

Thanks for the information everyone. I have come to the conclusion that I am the problem and that to fix the problem I will need a 12pk of cold ones, a boat and a long slow ride. might as well do all the rods while I'm out....@#$%& to be me.

Now kids lets play nice. My issue according to Darrin's description is the loose line looping into a knot and then getting hung up in the ring, not a loose line wrapping around the ring. The lure in question is a jig so there is a lot of pulling, letting sink reeling etc. that can cause loose line on the spool. I believe now that my issue is just a fact of life in breezy conditions with 10# or

Jim, I will double check the distance, I am pretty sure I have it set up correctly per the AT website. Bill, Next time out I will let 50yds or so out behind the boat to remove any twist. Swivel is a big NoNo here. The redfish don't care for them. Straight braid to fluoro leader connection. Thanks for the comments.

First time out after spooling the reel. the only twist could have come from the spooling process which I don't believe would be enough to cause a problem with braid.

Anyone had issues with Microwave Guides and Wind Knots? Especially light braid. I filled my reel with 10# Power Pro Super Slick and was throwing a 1/4 oz jig heads w/ 3'' Gulp Shrimp and had to go to a rod with heavier braid (power pro 20#) to stop the knots. Diff rod was not MicroWave so I am not sure if it was the line or the guide that caused the problem. Anyone else use light braid
