David, In my research on the forum about painting i see your name come up a bit, especially in regards to Fusion Spray paint. Would it be ok if i emailed you directly with painting questions rather than bore the rest of the forum first timer questions. Jim Scott

Good Evening Everyone, Just finished stripping old 7' f/glass spinning rod. getting ready to order grips. i have only used cork previously and will be using EVA on this build. The butt diameter is about 5/8'' and the blank diameter at 16'' up from butt is 9/16''. Should i order 3/8'' bore eva or 1/2'' bore. I know it stretches and can be reamed just want to make the job easier. Thanks for the ad

Stripper Rocks! I sanded with 220 and was getting nowhere, moved down to 100 and was still makeing no headway. tried 80 which removed the glue but was too afraid of harming blank. Applied some old stripper i had and handle glue came off much easier. I now intend to strip the entire blank since it works so well. Where do you get CitriStrip, Does WallyWorld or HD carry it?

I am also in the middle of re-doing an old glass spinning rod, just for practice. I removed the eva handle and am left with a good amount of glue. How do you recommend removing this glue, stripper? Sanding?. And when removing the finish with sanding what grit do you start with? Love this forum.. Jim Scott

Don't w

Thank you Alex and Brandon for the Feedback. Alex, I was also thinking that a 8' rod along with a guide set up you suggest would mean longer casts to get to wary fish. Does that extra foot in rod lenght make that much of a difference in casting distance? is a two piece rod an option since i drive a jeep and i can't hardly fit the dog in there let alone a 8' stick. Brandon, I may take you up

Thank you for all of the comments. I just added a couple picture links to the original post. You can see what i mean about fingers and thumb on the forgrip. Perhaps its the cracker way i hold my stick. At least i don't hold the reel on top like a lot of the tourists down here do. J Scott

Hello all, I am a real newbie (only 3 rods built) and have made a major mistake but i believe it may be for the best. I used the Aero Split Grip kit from Mudhole on all three of my spinning rods. Like most men i didn't follow directions or look at the catalog photos and installed the Aero seat backwards (according to catalog picture) on all three rods. The seat fits very comfortable in my hand a
