196. Re: Bandsaw Advice
Great advice guys, thank you very much. It did have a decent miter gauge and it had the best reviews I had seen on the site, but none were from rod builders!!!
Thanks again, might just wait and get a nicer one, or @#$%& not wait and get a nicer one now, who needs food? The dog has been looking a little chubby to me anyways.

197. Bandsaw Advice
Hi all, getting ready to pull the trigger on a bandsaw and remember reading some article about max RPM's. I will be cutting EVA and Wood turning blocks, prob no thicker than 3-4". I am looking at the POWERTEC BS900 Band Saw, 9-Inch (I wont post a link here cause its to amazon), but its max RPM is 1725. Is this enough for my handle making needs?
Thanks in advance

I also use the power wrapper in manual mode, meaning I remove the drive belt and

I switched to a spatula about 4 rods ago, and I havent looked back! I still use a brush on some of the smaller guides, since i am not that good yet with the spatula. I also found that the finish I got with the cheap yellow 1/4 in brush was as good as with the sable. Just my opinion.

202. Tuna Blank Advice
Hi all, I did a search but the comments were from a while ago and many things seemed to have changed since then.
I am building my first tuna rod for someone. It will be a stand-up trolling rod, he fishes from a 26ft CC off of North Carolina for YFT, kings, etc. I am thinking straight butt with roller guides, he fishes mono.
Any advice greatly appreciated!

No Jeff, you are right on, that was kinda the reason for original post. Not only was it too thin, but I did not have any tenons. I am doing a new one, and this time i am using Purple Heart with a white maple strip in the middle.
Thanks!
Chris, Cocobolo is fantastic. Havent used Tigerwood but do a search in photos, it is beautiful.
