Evening all. I have recently started doing my own grips as those of you (its many!) have helped me. Anyways I used the TITEBOND II glue for a small grip that is cork and cocobolo. As I was reaming it today to fit the rod, I noticed one of the cork to cork seams starting to seperate. A) What did I possibly do wrong(dried for plenty of time) and B) What can I do now?
As always, many thanks

Morning Will, Yes, thats pretty much it. Build yourself a jig, very easy. mine is 2 pieces of pine, 2" x 4", 3 holes in each. Middle hole is for mandrel, outer 2 holes are for threaded rod. I use wing nuts on the threaded rods. Put some mandrel wax or equivalent (other smarter people than I in here should kow reccomendations) then place cork pieces after boring onto the mandrel. I u

247. Re: Decal Question
Hi John, I use the same method and have always used cp. I didnt really like the milky film so I tried the clear CP. Unfortunately I did not have the best of luck on my trial piece, it peeled up. I sure hop it was something i did wrong, because although it peeled, no milky film!

Had the same problem, so I feel I can finally give something back to this forum...lol
Like Kevin said, I use an exacto (better control for me) and slice it out. It will level right off on your next coat.

Hello all, quick question. I rcvd my blocks today and sliced some up to make a little design and have it glued up in my clamp right now. I left the slices square. I obviously cant sand it on the lathe initially, but I wanted to make sure I could use a gouge on it too.
Thanks!

Hello all, I have just started turning my own handles and have what may be a stupid question. I scrolled through a ton of all of your awesome pics of handles. Obviously the cork/woodhandle is going to have a hole in it for the madrel, how do you guys cover the whole in the last cork area/butt cap. Mudhole has the buttplugs but I think they are too small.
Thanks!

this is true!! I have used the Tru Oil, so I guess that would be a good sealant for it too.
Thanks!

it seems a bit soft when turning, which stinks, cause it is fun to turn!
Thanks
