Hi All, although dumpster diving is not my hobby, I found an almost brand new Penn Slammer trolling rod recently in the bin with 2 broken guides. Following the advice in the FAQ I just removed the 2 guides in question. These have underwraps that I was careful not to destroy. For the record, the scalpels I bought a while back were great for this task. Now i have the epoxy, obviously not level. M

Thank you all very much for the replies. He is local, I never shipped it to him, so I will be picking it up tomorrow. I will have a better idea then of what happened. You cant get many details from an email which is how he told me about it last night. I will have to check out the sleeve to repair it. I am sure you guys have done this before but the thought of redoing it all sickens me, Thanks

Hi guys, just heard back from a customer that as he was putting line on his new rod, it snapped about 4 inches from the top. I have had good luck with American Tackle blanks, anyone else have any problems?I am assuming all I can do at this point is cut it clean and get a new tip top? thanks, guess i am just venting.

I was actually thinking that Bill, I am doing a stripe inlay so it might be tough to cut and clamp but I think it will work, thanks! I just figured I would check with some of our great suppliers here first.

Just as the Col says Tom, I dont even worry about them anymore. Once trimmed with a razor blade, and then second coat you wont even notice it. If sanding you have a greater chance of either hitting thread (not good trust me) or taking away the "roundness"

Thanks Victor, thats what I am going to go with, something that can handle both. I just know that I have been fishing a long time but until I started building, I used similar rods for everything!! Thanks again for the help, I appreciate it. Scott

Thanks. Crankbaits etc will be common use. Schoolie stripers here in NE are always fun to catch so i guess i am looking for a little bit of a lot from it. Hes just a kid looking for a new rec rod. Nothing professional like apparently most of the guys here build for apparently. Thanks again

Thank you sorry for being so vague. Use would fresh water bass fishing in the NE and the occasional schoolie striper from a pier. I havent jumped into PG a whole rod yet so figured i would ask. Thanks again

Hi guys, looking for a good 2 piece, black gloss finish, 8-15lb. I love the MHX's but all 2 piece are Slate. Batson I could not find a glossy 2 piece. I saw the Lamiglas IFW84-2L on MH's site at a great price. Any advice on that one? Also, I have not built on a Seeker LT Saltwater blank. I know the name Seeker is great but do you guys have any opinions on say, the SP703? Clients use will

at the risk of sounding like a moron, the spacing chart only lists the blanks as MHXSK-NUMBER I dont see the L-903 or L-904 blank listed. Is there another chart to tell me what blank equals what? Thanks

Hi guys, I have a guide spacing question. I looked at the GS chart on MH's site and I can't find my model listed. It is the L903-MHX, 7' 6". What am I missing? Thanks!
