Hi guys, quick question getting ready to fire up the heat gun. I am a little worried about bulkiness on the blank on one end of my HST grip because it will go straight to the reel seat. Does anyone know if it helps if you put small slices in the tubing, so it melts better to the blank? Thanks a million! Scott

Hi Guys, was ordering some Concept K's today and Mudhole said they dont make a 10J or 8J, just an H model in each size. Is this normal? If so, does anyone know what I can replace them with? They do list an 8M, and a 6M but I guess I am confused, any help much appreciated! Scott

Hi Guys, I have roller top that is a tad big, so I was thinking about putting a layer of A thread underneath it. Is this ok to do? If it is, should I epoxy the thread first then put the top on? I plan on threading over the top and out about a half an inch or so too. Hope this isnt a really stupid question! Thanks in advance, Scott

Hello all, and Happy New Year. Just finished up a Trolling rod and double-wrapped the guides, obviously double-foot. I dont believe i wrapped too tight, as I always leave enough wiggle room for final alignment, except now. Anyways, is there any tip or trick to loosening them up just a bit so I can align? Thought about wetting them with water but didnt want to try anything until I asked the ex

Thanks all, as for the size, I have fished both, and my favorite go to wire rig now is a 6'6". I have a 7, but in my mind it is too flexible. It will not be used just for spoons. Up here I wire line tube and worms, jigs, etc when the stripers head down deep. John, I believe she will be using monel. Dave, I agree on the roller tip. I would have never said a few years ago but I do get snags on

Hi All, first Salmon Rod build and I have my guide spacing, just wondering what you think best location for Reel Seat should be? Standard Spinning setup, not a SG and grips are custom EVA, thanks! Scott

Thanks Rick, based on Spencers advice I am looking for a tougher blank as well. So from what I see the biggest difference between the ST1023 and the ST1144F is the length, is 8'6" a big enough blank? Thanks again Scott

Well, it may be more difficult getting that info than I thought. It is a gift so the client cant really ask him. I do know its a spinning reel though so I guess I would like to build for whatever you guys think would be an average spinning reel for this set up.So, having said that, any recommendations on a reel seat and/or guides would be very much appreciated. Scott

Hi guys, this will be my first Salmon Blank for a customer who will be fishing in the northwest. I have decided to go with the ST1143-MHX (9'6" - 2 pc) for a blank but I am looking for some help on which guides to use. He will be mainly fishing from shore, but might do the occasional mooching. Also wondering your thoughts on the best Reel Seat, thanks! Thanks so much in advance, Sco
