Hello all, i am repairing a rod for a friend who had some squirrels chew up the eva grip. Couple questions? 1) Does anyone know the type of Reel seat this is? 2) I am trying to find the EVA handles for the rear part of the seat and the butt. Any help greatly appreciated. /r Scott

Thanks so much Bob, great info! No Chair. So you put say, the Seeker S6460XH onto my 19" butt? Sounds like a plan, I knew my bent butt would be a bit longer so I might use my ATX 6 footer for that and prob go with blank from your recommendations. My plan is to keep the 80 (it was an anniv gift from the wife) for the bent butt and pick up a 60 for the standup. Thank you again sir, I

Hello all and Happy New Year. Fished all my life, mainly stripers, blues etc. I have fished big game but never on my own boat. Plan is to gear up this winter in hopes of my first tuna fishing from my 25; MAKO this coming season, I have a Penn 80 and want to build myself the rod. I have built about 35 rods but only one Tuna and it was for popping. I live on Cape Cod and will be setting up for

Hi Guys, just looking for a little confirmation that I am on the right path. Reel seat was slipping on this ultra light rod (split grip) I built a couple years ago. I first tried the drilling small hole in reel seat method, but it slipped again. So I want to do it right. I am going to remove the butt grip, back grip and reel seat and redo. I didnt have winding checks on the orig build near the

Brilliant! Well, you are all correct it looks like. Magnet didnt attract to any part of the rod at all. Looks like the handle is aluminum and the remainder is fiberglass. This will be my first paint, I am using Krylon Leather Brown, is it usually just 2 coats? and then one coat of Permiglos? You guys are the best, thank you!

Well, I am a rookie (4 years) so I will def yield to both of your opinions. If it was, you would have seen one by now. Thanks again guys, I think I might just try to clean it up.

Hmmm, now you have me thinking Herb! I guess I just assumed. Anyone know if old Mitchells were aluminum? Either way it looks like its too much to bite off, thanks so much for the info Herb! Scott

Hi All, many threads on painting blanks but I could not find one on Aluminum blanks. I have an old Mitchell Rod and Reel that I am redoing for my cousin. It is a sentimental piece or I prob would not bother with it lol. So, I have the Krylon (leather brown), I matched it and tried it on an old blank so that is good. 2 Main questions then: 1) Should I prime the blank since it's aluminum?

Tks Randolph. I have had good luck with gorilla glue but this wood is too small and thin. Sometimes the expansion hurts you.
