They are really great at cleaning up the slop. There is a reason that they want you to test cast them before getting them. Once you do, it'll be what you use. I haven't ever seen a post that someone says they're a gimmick after trying them. I initially thought they were a gimmick, because we all know part of the game is catching fishermen and builders with eye candy with key words such as la

For those that are interested, the Kentucky Rodbuilders are meeting on March 21 at Lynn William's shop in Owensboro. This will be our third annual get together. We are hoping to start doing 2-3 a year for those interested. Right now the details are still being worked out, but if there's a topic you'd like to see covered, shoot me an email at ReedRods@&

What type of bait/technique is he using? Boat or bank fishing? Grip length? spinning or casting? I've used AmTac bushido blanks on my last few catfish builds. The one that may be in your range, is ls76/12-25. It's a great blanks and will handle a variety of fish weights. I've built on the ls76/20-40 but it is for big blues and flatheads. Also, if you looking lighter, look at the mb in

It's hit or miss for me. I try to bounce some blank ideas off others to get some feedback and experience with a certain blank I'm interested in. I order, and if I like it, I'll keep it on hand for a demo/personal rod. If I don't like it, it gets discounted and I recoup my money.

You have to shape it, fill in the pits/pores, prime, dip, and clear coat of some sort. There's a lot of steps involved, but they are sweet looking.

I don't think I've used it to remove a painted blank, but when I have used it to remove a finish, I do aluminum foil also. I also use water and a super fine scotchbrite pad to go over it after it has set for a few hours.

If you look at Walker Nelson's facebook page, Nelson's custom rods, you'll see that he has used some stuff to accent glue lines in the past and it looked pretty sweet. It definitely gives the fine lines you're looking for. I just don't recall where he got the glue pigments.

Depends on what you're dipping. For reel seats, I have an auto body place spray clear coats. For grips, I like the epoxy by riley rods, it dries harder than epoxy, and gives the grip protection. Most of my customers are using thread finish for a protective coat. When I was testing it for grips, I tested permagloss, waterbased urethane, spray clear, auto clear, thread finish, and the epoxy ril

You can do a mad-swirl to cork grips with magic marble paint or the borax method. You just need to add a protective coat on top of it. You also need to fill in the pits, and prime it. If you don't prime, you can get it to show some of the grain through the paint for a cool effect.

Mr. Johnson - On casting rods, the guides seem to be more forgiving than on spinning rods. You could go micros, size 4 all the way to the tip and not need another guide, though you may have to push out your butt guide further. Don was referencing this set of guides which are great guides. . The set he is talking about is at the bottom of the page of the link.

There is definitely a market for them. I'm in the process of trying to put a complete set together picking them up here and there as I can. I also own the cd with the issues, but there is just something about being able to have the magazine in hand. I shot you an email through the buy/sale page. If you don't mind, shoot me a list of the issues you have when you get time. Take care,

For Rod #2 - I would highly consider the microwaves. They are very smooth and very easy to set up to get the maximum casting distance. They do work as advertised. They offer considerable casting distance over the cone of flight set up, and cast as far as any of the other guide train theories, 27x, KR theory, etc. They also offer the tidalwave that have titanium runners. For rod #1 - Based

Would a vertical jigging blank work? Some of them are 5'6" or around there. Bushido has a 5'8" model that may be what you're looking for. There are also some that size in the american tackle atx lineup.

NEW KITS HAVE ARRIVED I just received a shipment of Magic Marble primary and metallic kits. The kits are a popular item for people getting started with Mad-Swirling as you get a small price break with the kits. I only have a limited number of kits, and only 3 primary kits remaining. I also have the majority of all the colors in stock. Copper is still on backorder, and the new neon colors h
