I just want to find the lightest weight size 3 or 3.5 available.

Thanks tom for the good info and I would love to see some pics of the two side by side or any other small micros that you do have. By "nice" I guess I just meant a lightweight guide I could wrap on and not worry about. Although the original purpose of this thread was to find a less expensive alternative to the tlsg 3.5 as my friends dont want to pay the price of titaniums.

Ok now that everything's all good a question. are the alps pmk size 3 micros which I've never seen as nice a guide as tlsg 3.5 Fuji micros which I'm familiar with.

I actually did indeed use 20 lb braid and even tried 20 lb Gliss line for punching the last two years but only with 3/8 to 3/4 oz weights. I use a special 7'9" stick I made with a lighter tip. Only broke off twice, first a biggun sawed me off on a stick and then I busted it when I got a hit and snagged a giant Lilly pad as I sissily set the hook.

Finally got my hands on some deltas to build for me and my buddies. A mb 692, mb 714, mb 703 and a 705. They feel good are nice and straight and have horizontal ridges down the whole blank. Their gonna all be spiral wrapped baitcasters and I'm pretty stoked about them especially that 703 which weighs 1.3 oz . It's gonna be mine and I plan on wearing out some smallmouth with it. Honestly I don't t

all my rods have 3.5 running guides except for two that have torzites which may even be lighter weight but are size 4's. Back when I built them the smalllest tip was a sz 6 ring and I happily fished them for years till sz 4 tips came along and I swapped them out. The guide industry seems to have settled on as 4 as the smallest standard size that's readily available. I want to try some size 3's so

So let me get this straight- zirconium alconite and nanolite rings are thinner than sic hardloy and aluminum oxide rings. with torzite being the thinnest.

So the only 3.5 or smaller guides I can find are Fuji ti type l's sic. Fuji mk's aluminum oxide. Alps pmk zirconium. Or artus ring lock nanolite. So I guess I want to know which are the lightest ones.

Tips look good too. size 4 ring weight 0.008 oz and they also have a mini tip which looks smaller but alas weighs the same.

Alps pmk mini in size 3z is as follows 1.90 mm ring - 0.165 inch height and 'kudos Batson' even give weight 0.003 ounce. Looks a little higher maybe similar height to Fuji ti fly guides. Also wondering does anyone know what are zirconium rings similar to.

Howdy gang, Haven't been around lately and as I'm building some new rods for my friends was just wondering if any new small micro guides have come out. Been using fuji titanium sic LS 3.5's for my runners on my baitcasters for years . Any suggestions on singlefoot 3.5's or smaller type guides around would be appreciated. I have sz five and sixes for strippers but need to get about 20 runners. It'

Just like the ugly stik commercial it made me cringe again. I also wonder which model blank that is. I believe it would make a great kayak fishing stick

Thanks Robert, I saw the Jann's website and those are the specs for the 704 IM supposedly. they list the 704 hm as a .583 butt 4.5 tip and weighing 1.9 ounces. Which seems like a big difference for the same blank too me.

I am familiar with the gloomis p842 imx and still have a p8400 glx baitcaster I throw once in awhile. The man only mag bass blank I have ever had is a Mb844 which is way too stiff for me, Maybe that helps in my confusion.

If the 705 is like the old g loomis mb 843 what is the 704 did g loomis make a mb 842?

According to the specs the MB705 hm has an 0.593 butt and either a 4 or 4.5 tip and the 704 hm has a 0.59 butt and a 4.4 tip.

Don't really have a specific technique in mind but will probably use it for skipping lighter jigs and or senkos. But not really knowing the nfc MB blanks that well I just don't know. Anyone tried the delta series yet?

Last day to procure a blank on sale and need help picking out just one. Even at half off I can only afford one after paying for tourneys and a new reel. Couldn't sleep thinking about it last night so I leave it to the experts, yes that would be you. By the way I have my heart set on a hm. Never had one but thinking MBR 703 04 or 705

he is going to try to sell them on the bay. i was wrong as i guess the conventional wrap has a cork handle. he's just wrapping the guides on the spiral today which has the carbon split handle so i'll have him send you some pics tomorrow and maybe you can tell me what they are worth.

these rods are no slouches what with the imx blanks, fuji titanium sics and custom made carbon fiber handles he's probably at least 150 if not 200 into each one not including labor. what do you think its worth in todays market online?

good stuff to think about. my friend has a couple 843 imx blanks and he is going to build one spiral wrapped and the other he built with the guides on top (by the way he put on 11 kr's and says it doesn't touch the blank). his plan is to put both for sale online which rhymes with ehey and see which sells first.

thanks guys, as we just started selling a few rods my friend thinks a baitcaster would be more likely to sell by appealing to more people with the guides on top versus being spiral wrapped.

my friend is building some rods to sell and is thinking of putting the guides all on top like factory rods. he asked my advice on how many guides to use and as i haven't built one in like 20 years i'm not sure. he said he taped on 10 using size 4 runners and it rubbed the blank so i was wondering how many micro guides do you guys put on a 7' mh baitcaster and is it okay if the line touches the b

mike i always say use the lightest guides you can get away with and my last two baitcasters i spiral wrapped with a 5.5 titainium fly for the stripper as its a bit taller than the reg micros then 4's and finished with 3.5's for the runners with a sz 4 tip and it works fine. after pulling out a couple guides i use the forhan locking wrap on all of them, why take a chance. another tip to save alot
