How well does it move the 7/8 oz jigging raps? That’s the other bait I use a lot. I’m not overly familiar with the characteristics of a slow jig blank. It appears these blanks can handle a wide range of lure weights.

I wondered how those slow jig blanks would handle the lighter jig weight and smaller fish. I usually picture heavy spoons fishing for big fish when I think of slow jigging salt. The medium light looks way heavier than my typical medium light spinning rod.

I plan on jigging big smallmouth on Lake Michigan with flutter spoons. Mostly 1/2 ounce with some 3/8 to 3/4 ounce once in awhile, like War Eagle jigging spoons for example. My lead jig spoon mold goes up to 1 ounce, but I can’t imagine needing to use that weight for smallmouth. 90 percent of the time I will be dropping the baits on them as I hover over the schools with spot lock. 10 percent I’l

I can’t imagine this blank actually being able to boat flip any average size bass let alone a big one. Am I missing something here that this could even be plausible? Would a broken rod from trying that be covered under warranty? I ordered a couple to build up, but if my brothers get their hands on them, I don’t doubt they will put that claim to the test. I imagined this as a nice crappie

I just called and got through! So looks like best time to call is early in the week around the time they open. 9PST They did say it’s best to email, because they get high call volumes. Support@edgerods.com is the email Scarlett gave me. Some rods are in inches and some are evidently metric. The

Was GLoomis of old, run the same way? Just curious. I kinda had that hunch that the blanks are great, and (finding out) the customer service is poor! I left a voicemail earlier this week. As of today, no return call. I called again today, and tried all mail boxes, and all were full again! Lol! At this point I intend on waiting to measure the blank in hand. But now, since the blank is ba

No one answered, but I was able to leave a voicemail at the number provided above. I was gonna order a couple sizes of tips, but I’m using Torzites, so that gets expensive. I might just wait till the blank arrives to measure the tip, since it sounds like there’s some variance between blanks. David, why did you choose to sand the blank? I know it has the ridges, but are they very rough? Th

I didn’t stop to think that it was possibly mm. I looked at a lot of blanks, and most of the were listed between 4.2 and 5, so I assumed they were all fractional. Like the SJ732 X-ray was listed as 4.2. The blank I ordered was only one listed that significantly low. So is the ds721 1.6mm or should it have been 3.6 or 4.6 fractional?!?! Would be nice to get ahold of a sales member. I noticed A

I have several questions about a few of their blanks, I have tried calling numerous times as well as emailing. The VM box is always full and no return emails. Does anyone know if the office shuts down for the winter months? If so, I’ll stop bombarding them with calls and emails. I did order a ds721 X-ray blank. I believe the website is incorrect with the tip of 1.66. Anyone have this blan

I checked swampland and NERB's website, only reel seats from Matagi. Doesnt anyone in the US stock a large selection of Matagi components? I was hoping to get a quick order in for the parts I needed. I can order from Matagi, directly, does anyone know How long is the turnaround from them?

I understand that we can't post pics on this board. I have uploaded the pic on the host site, I was unsure if any other member can see them by clicking the link, or if only I can? Can anyone see the image I linked? If not, how can I link the image from the host site? Thanks

I did try searching. Johnnys pond and merrick tackle were all I found. I'm not sure what you mean about trying to match Fuji? I attached an image which is directly from the Matagi catalog, of the exact parts I need. They are for the Fuji PTS reel seat, and Matagi supplies parts for them. I'm trying to find a us vendor that stocks these, or even domestic parts that I can interchange with what's pi

I don't know if that image worked or not. If not, can anyone tell me how to attach images to my post??? Anyways, I'm looking for all 3 parts in the image for some builds I'm working on. I have the Fuji PTS reel seats, I just need the carbon tube and trim rings for the hidden fore grip. I tried calling Johnnys pond, but no response, so I'm not sure they are open anymore or not? Can any

Tom, I made my first carbon grip this past week. I followed closely to your articles in the rod maker magazines. The grip turned out decent for my first attempt. However, I happened to come across your Youtube video after I had already sprayed my grip with helmsman spray urethane. Now I question, which way of applying the urethane is your preferred method? I'm not overly fond of my result

Pedro, you can jump in on this thread too. Your question goes right along with my questions as well! Bill, I meant that I don't tie on a fluoro leader. You are correct about not breaking. I pour my own jigs and use light wire hooks. When I hook up in the rocks I can wrap a wood dowel around the line and pull the hook straight to free my jig. I then just rebend my hood and go back to fishi

Excellent help guys! Last question before I order my guides. I read that fly guides have a larger ID than spinning guides. So, how do the CF4CG Minima 4 Fly Guides size 4 compare to to Fuji LSG size 4? I'm talking ID between the 2. I'm just trying to see if I need to downsize the Minima fly guide to a 3 to match LSG size 4 ID, or if the size 4 Mimima is the best size? I'm intereste

TATSG Spinning Guides are another guide that intrigues me. Are they stable on a blank?

Anyone have any experience with the minima 4 line up? I'm thinking of trying the Match guides for my transition and using the fly guides in 3 to finish it out. I'm unsure of the tip top though. How do these compare in quality to other brands? Is there a better alternative to these? I don't have any experience with any other guides, so I appreciate any insight.

Ahh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean choker, I meant butt guide! Thanks for catching that! 16 is what I was hoping to start with, so I'm glad to see that recommended. For the price, what is my best option for guides? I could go with titanium fuji's but is there better options? thanks, Ben

I am building a rod for casting 1/8-3/16 oz. jigs with 4" ringworms for walleye while wading the river. I selected the blank, 7'6" ML XF St. Croix Legend Elite. I noticed that this is a new blank. I also noticed the tip is 3.5 and is smaller than the previous blanks of similar dimensions. Anyone know why this is? I was thought maybe a typo, but need to know for sure to get correct t

Thanks for the help! I will order the book Tom wrote tonight. I also looked into subscribing to RodMaker Magazine. I want to do this long term as a hobby, so I want to make sure I take the right steps from the beginning. I find a lot of beautiful rods that have been crafted by many, and look forward to eventually getting to that level! I find great satisfaction in creating something and th

Hello, I have been reading up on this site for almost year. Last summer, I purchased a few blanks, reel seats, and grips. I do still need to get guides yet. I purchased these with the intent of building some nice rods for myself during the winter months. As of now, I will be having plenty of free time now that work is slow. So I would like to begin building my rods. I am looking for so
